So many terrible experiences! It’s frustrating, maddening and sad all at the same time.

I recently lost my beloved brother...I believe that if the hospitalists had listened to him instead of prolonging his treatment, he would still be with us.

In my own case, the (regional) hospitalists almost killed me... I coded twice. My husband raised hell and got me transferred back to my surgeon’s care. My surgeon brought in a mega team of Doctors. I was in a coma and he was preparing for the worst. It’s by the Grace of GOD that I’m alive today!

I Send All Good Thoughts and Prayers for healing to all y’all!

My God! These stories are so horrible! Makes me feel sick and so angry for all of you and what you've been through. Thirty years of working and studying in this profession and it's such a mess. Such incredible advancements in the science of medicine and healthcare eclipsed by greed of the insurance companies and lawyers. Insurance dictates everything we do and fear of liability is a constant. Hospitalists are an invention of the insurance companies to ration resources and save money but at what cost to patients?

Kristi - my God what you've been through! And all because of a delayed MRI? Sickening and truly heartbreaking. They should've just done the effin' MRI - better to be safe than sorry! So much unnecessary pain, suffering and loss because some jackass hospitalist didn't want to be bothered. I am so sorry for all that you've been through and are still going through! Hopefully the PT and OT can restore some functioning. They are very talented and educated individuals and can really work miracles. Keep moving forward, one day at a time, and don't get discouraged.

My advice - complain and make noise! In the hospital - If something doesn't seem right, INSIST on seeing someone (doctor, PA, hospitalist, nursing supervisor) and insist on more testing. Tell everyone you see that there's an issue, not in a nasty way, but make yourself heard. You have to advocate for yourself or family member because no one will do it for you. Same thing as an outpatient - complain and make noise. Insist on seeing someone else if you don't like what you're being told. Call the insurance company, keep calling the doctors and making noise. I can tell you from experience o the other side, its the squeaky wheel gets the grease. You have to FIGHT for yourself. It's not the way it was meant to be at all, but that is the reality of it. And the way things are looking now, it's only going to get worse!

So very happy to see you back here Kristi.
    We have missed you.
As the others have said Annie has kept us up to date.
Sending you all my good wishes for continued progress.

Hospitals all around the world must be the same. I can't believe how many times I had to "make a fuss" when my elderly parents were admitted - just to get them some basic care!

So nice to finally "see" you posting again Kristi. I lurked on the boards for a long time before I decided to go through with the Sleeve and I always enjoyed reading your posts. I am sorry to hear about your problems but soooo happy to see you making progress. I'm sure it hasn't been easy, but you've always come across to me a strong person and a fighter. Best of continued luck to you!

Kristi, boo on your phone! You did push me to do a backup of computI'er and phone~

I have a couple of concert photos with your dad, and your Miss SD PP photo's -- I'd be glad to send them to you.

I've been concerned about the tortoise slow pace they have done with ALL your stuff. I know your Dad advocates for you, but all this delay is concerning . You know you are in my prayers, but tell your dad we include him and your mom (and dog) as well.

Someday you will be a rockin, crabby old lady like me
    [I]HW: 240 lbs SW: 199 lbs GW: 140 lbs

    1 MO = 167.0 2 MO = 156.4 3 MO = 148.4 4 MO = 140.6

Happy with my weight; happy with my size; over-the-moon with my health!
