    Hello MindySue
I hope that your pre-op diet is going ok. For me it was the worst part of the whole process and even then it wasn't really that bad.
As everyone has said being nervous is totally normal.
Please keep being excited too :-) This is going to be such a huge change in your life - for the better!
You are taking control of your life and doing something that is going to benefit your health and, possibly, happiness.
I have never regretted my decision to be sleeved and only wish that I been able to afford to have it years ago.
You will be surprised just how different you will feel once you start losing weight. You joints will love you for it and you will have so much energy.
I am a very different person today than I was pre-sleeve. Happier, healthier, more energetic, confident....and I now love shopping for clothes :-)
I can run around after our grand kids and can get up off the floor after playing with them without having to haul myself up using furniture.

I also only told a select few of my very very good friends that I knew would support me. I didn't need any negative people around me at what I wanted to be a positive time. I have heard some "interesting" comments about bariatric surgery from people that I thought would know better.
My partner was extremely supportive. It was a total surprise to him when I broached the subject - and he loved me whatever shape I was in - but was 100% behind me because he knew that it was something that was really important to me.

You may, or may not, lose some hair. I lost some around the 3-6 month mark. It was not noticeable to anyone else and I only really knew because I could see it in the bathroom basin. It grew back and is quite normal now.
I don't drink alcohol - but I had stopped drinking any about a year before surgery. My partner is on medication that means that he is unable to have alcohol so I stopped in solidarity. I don't miss it. But that is just me.
Eating out with friends is not a problem. I probably avoided eating out for the first few months until I got my head around what I could and couldn't manage. The friends that know about my surgery always offer to go to somewhere that has shared plates or Tapa style food which is great. Otherwise I generally order an appetizer or entrée (I think our sizes are a little different in NZ) to be served when the others have their mains. If there is nothing suitable I will order a main and am happy to leave what I don't eat or, if appropriate, I will ask to take the remainder home. I would still rather pay for a full meal and eat only part of it and be much smaller than I was than worry about not getting value for money:-)

All the best for next week

Today is Day 5 of the pre-op diet. I woke up with a horrible headache, nauseous, and light headed. I couldn't bring myself to stomach a protein shake for breakfast this morning. I ate some of my chicken breast and some of my broccoli for lunch.
I took Tylenol and the headache is gone, but my head feels like there's a lot of pressure ( sinus).

It has been raining and flooding for weeks here in Oklahoma and then hot and humid when it isn't raining, so the mold count is pretty high.

My pre-op diet is 7 days
    breakfast: protein shake
    snack
lunch: 4 oz lean protein with a 1-2 cup vegetable
    snack
dinner: 4 oz lean protein with a 1-2 cup vegetable
    snack

snacks can be: 2 oz beef jerky, protein shake, string cheese, or greek lowfat yogurt.

That is followed by 3 days of liquids.

I'm hoping it's the diet making me feel this way and that I'm not coming down with something.
Please just be the diet or allergies.

Lowering your carb intake could cause headaches also. That's why people who start on keto end up what they call a "keto headache"... it is the #1 reason I make even my kids do low carb or sugar free drinks/snacks. Sugar is SOOOOOOOO bad for us.

Just wanted to check in and wish you the best of luck tomorrow on your surgery. You've got this, it will be so fast once you check in and get prepped. I know you'll do just fine. Keep us posted!

    Thank you!
I'm a nervous wreck! Trying to tie up loose ends at work today, My son has a baseball game tonight at 9:15 PM ( who schedules these things?)
Scared to death, but I'm doing it scared.
Hospital check in time is at 8:30 am tomorrow, surgery scheduled for 10:30.
I can't believe I've made it this far, and I can't believe I'm doing this.

I felt exactly the same way! I was absolutely terrified beyond belief and in full panic mode, wondering if I was making a mistake, wishing I had more time. It's perfectly NORMAL to feel that way. Just keep moving forward, you are ready and well-prepared. You've GOT this!

It is a wonderful tool to have a healthier life. And as to your anniversary dinner, you will still be able to participate in life after your sleeve. You will be eating less than before, but you'll find a bite just as satisfying as a banquet. And feeling better, being healthier, more easily mobile, and will find using the tool makes it a success.

Feeling happy for you. And really, the celebration becomes about the people not the food! Welcome.
