    Default Hello from Australia 🇦🇺

I've been stalking this website for quite a while now, and on Monday I decided I am going to start the process of getting a sleeve operation.
At this stage I've arranged for my first consult with the surgeon, called up about accessing my superannuation to cover the costs, and read and watched everything I can find about WLS.
I'm finally at my wits end and do not want to keep living with this obesity for another year. It's given me cancer (treated with a hysterectomy) and T2 diabetes, and it took my gallbladder. I can remember saying when I was turning 30 that I didn't want to be fat then....fast forward 16 years and I'm now saying the same thing about turning 50!
All I want is to live in a body where doing the most simple things isn't a massive effort, like putting on my socks or getting out of bed or off the lounge.

    Thanks Jamilda 💜

    Welcome
    I hear you.

You know life is so good for me with a sleeve. I really wish you well with it.

I was self funded so it was quick and easy.
A year on and it's as easy as it was after the first 8 weeks.

I personally have a very normal life I eat anything in a restaurant that is protein
Then if there is room for salad or vegetables. I will have that as well.
I also have a passion for food to be spicy such as lot's of garlic and chillies and spices, it's how I love to eat I just have a very small portion and I have what is left as the next meal.
I don't eat bread or potatoes, rice or pasta. I don't have room and it's not going to bring my energy level to where it needs to be. So I just don't bother.
Unless it's a mouthful of some thing I want to taste rather than eat.

Ask any questions people here are so helpful.
Looking forward to hearing from you in the future.

Hi Jamilda and welcome to the forum! I am newly sleeved at just 6 days post-op but I can already tell you that I have no regrets! It's a big decision, but an important one as those chronic diseases like T2 DM will only continue to progress and worsen as time goes on. This is a wonderful forum for support, encouragement, and to find answers to any questions you may have. Good luck to you!

    Welcome!

This is one of the best decisions I ever made for myself. My only regret is that I waited so long to make the decision to take my power back.

You’ve come to the best place for information, encouragement and support.

Best of luck as you embark on this amazing journey ;-)

Hello from the other side of the ditch :-)

I was 54 when I was sleeved and the only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner.
There are lots of great people on this forum who are very happy to offer support and advise so read up and ask any questions that you might have.
