    Question Realistic goal weight?

Iím trying to figure out if my goal weight is realistic. Maybe I should change it? Iím at 171 Iím on the taller side 5í9. Iíve always had 150 in my head for myself. So 20 more pounds. Iím 7.5 months out. I work out just about every single day now. I donít know when factoring in extra skin...there really isnít much.. if 150 is attainable. I want a goal I can actually meet.

I'm 10 lbs from that and I am ready to stop losing, honestly. I haven't toned up at all because of the health problems I've had. I'm only 5'4" and I've had people tell me that I'm gonna blow away. I'm satisfied where I am but I think I will continue to lose. I still eat like a baby bird. I eat like I just came home from surgery and I had my surgery a week before you. The struggles of being skinny. Lol. I am good with my measurements so I hope I can maintain now.

I'm 5'5" and weigh 135. I'm 73 years old and a LOT more muscular and toned than I was when I first hit 135 pounds.

I think our weight goals are a moveable feast. Depends on so very much -- our bone structure, proportions, muscle mass, the KIND of exercise we do, our dressing style(s).

And then there's always Catherine Deneuve's sage advice to consider: ďAt a certain age, you have to choose between your face and your ass.Ē

Don't worry. Be happy. You've got new problems now. Enjoy them.

I looked at the BMI chart and that was my goal, to be in the healthy BMI range. I'm towards the top of the healthy range, would like to be lower, but it isn't happening. I work out a lot so think I'm fine.

The best way to know what to expect is to get your body composition done (Ex DEXA scan) because BMI charts don't work the same for everyone.
With those infos my surgeon was able to tell me what was his target weight for me, took me 2 years to reach it and yet on paper that weight is still in the overweight range.

I'm hoping to reach my own goal at some point as soon as my health will get better. That lower weight was from my surgeon's perspective "doable but will require extra care for maintenance" but he does think I can try to work that goal : my restriction is still very good at 3 years and a half out, my gastric pouch is only 210ml.

I set my goal at my old WW goal, which was 155. I have hit 155 for my sleeve surgery my body doesn't seem to lose more than that. It's a weight I am happy with. Now as I'm trying to lose again, it would be nice if I could get to 140-145. We'll see.

My “realistic” goal turned out to be higher than where my actual weight wound up.

I don’t struggle. My levels are perfect. I’m good with where I am.

You’ll find your “sweet spot” :-)

I think only you know what your goal weight is. I was never given a goal weight by the doctor or dietitians. I just wanted to have a normal BMI and fit back into my old clothes. I have almost reached my goal weight, 400grams off target, but have now decided I would like to go below my original goal I set myself. You have to be comfortable with whatever goal you set for yourself, but remember you can always aim lower or higher if need be. Well done on your journey so far.

I have not been given an official goal weight either. I always felt my best at 130-135, but that was 7+ years ago before my 90lb pregnancy weight gain. Don't think I'll ever get that low again. I have felt so crappy for so long. My goal now is to be healthy. I want to be active and fit so I can ride a bike, go hiking, swimming, etc without feeling like I'm going to die.

Your goal weight is just a number, nothing more.
Your body will determine its own goal weight, that could be more, exactly what you picked, or less.
Not much you can do about that.

I ended up way below my goal weight, and I have adjusted that many times.
There are also people, who will never reach their set goal weight.

My advice is to sit back an enjoy the ride.
Trust your body to do the right thing.
    Trust the process, it's fun!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

My doctor and I discussed a goal weight. He really does not believe in just setting a number. I was 6' tall at 307 lbs. He thought I could lose 75lbs. I have an athletic build and I set 220 lbs as my goal. I reached 205lbs and maintained this weight for the last 8 months. Set a realistic goal and an optimistic goal. We all think when we reach a goal weight we can change our eating habits. Remember the principles of sleeve weight loss, protein, drink water and walk. When I gain a couple of pounds I always increase my fluid intake and walk more. Always works.

I set a goal of 140 lbs (100 lbs under my highest, but about 5 more than I weighed when my weight was normal.

I am 5'4 tall, but used to be 5'5" - so have lost an 1" as I aged.

I hit 122 at my lowest, am back up to 134, but working on 130 because it gives me a bit of ability fo fluctuate up and down without going crazy.

I'm at maintenance, and still trying to figure it out!

And Ann2 is correct. I have always had NO backside and at 122, bonybutt. And my face was too gaunt. They are both better a bit higher.

I was never given a goal weight by my surgeon. My personal goal was to get to 70kg which was the lowest I could remember being in my adult life. When I hit that I revised it to a number in the "normal" BMI range. I now hover around 31-62 kg which is where my body seems to have decided it wants to be - and I'm more than happy.
As mentioned above you will find your sweet spot and it will be just right for you.

I totally relate to the bony butt ;-)

I was never given a goal weight by my surgeon either. I set my goal weight to 60kg, as I thought that was a good place to be, heavier than I was before kids, but the lowest weight I thought I would look reasonable with. I have just come back from a short holiday and weighed myself and I am 59.7kg. I am so happy as its great to see those numbers after so many years. I am just under 5 foot 6 ( also shrunk, lol) I would like to lose another kilogram and then that's where I would like to stay, however I think the loss of weight is due to muscle loss as I haven't not exercised for a while due to injury.
