    Default Goal - Again!

    Attachment 28295

So excited to have hit my goal for Kilimanjaro this morning! I was going for 135 and did it. That's 10 pounds since February. (Maintenance is slow losing for me). I'm still near the top of the healthy BMI, but I think with all my exercise I'm good. I have resolved the fact with my brain that I'll never be skinny, but my goal 5 years ago was to look like a normal person. I've got that down.

Now that I've retired TOTALLY (as of yesterday) I can start hitting my training hard. 8 days of mountain climbing in CO in June and Africa in August.

I had been subbing for the past 2 years after retiring from teaching. Last week I was bit and had a shoe thrown in my face. My last day this week, Tuesday, I called the principal for assistance who ended up calling the police. I wonder where the police take crazy kids?!? So with all this there are no regrets, I was so happy to toss my ID badge in the trash! It was like a celebration. I spent yesterday in my happy place, my woods, playing in the mud. (We have had a lot of rain).

I will be dealing with this bite for the next 6 months, unless they can get the kid tested, which would be impossible without sedation or a straight jacket.

I'm so happy for you!! for the "retirement for good this time" but also for your goal weight!!

We all have this weight printed in our heads...it's hard to keep it "real". But I think with your exercise regimen you are actually being really successful.

Little story : during Law school I was a part time supervisor in a school. I had the biggest admiration from that time for the special need teachers...
It was a middle school, and we had only three classes of SN, 25 of the others, but those 3 classes were the most complicated. It was at first almost impossible to communicate with them to say the least. Several times over the years they would fight each others like enraged dogs and I was the only one there, so I had to get in the middle and try to separate them.
I was in my 20's so I was healing fast, but in three years I was slapped, kicked, and punched several times...lots of bruises and accident declaration for the school... I was never the target...but trying to be the peace keeper was dangerous. One of the teacher actually had to get stitches during a cooking class he got stabbed "by accident"...

At the end of the second year, most SN kids knew me and would stop fighting when I arrived because I always found elaborate ways to punish them after the fight. Repaint walls, gardening, picking up trash etc...My principal was always happy if I could pinch a penny at the same time, so I could be really creative!!
But those three years did vaccinate me for ever from embracing any kind of teaching position!! Oh my!! only saints can do that jobs...no wonder so many teachers are depressed!! the SP teachers were always the ones calling in sick...

    Hello there

Well good for you and you know you are so in control after the year you have had!

You know you really are an inspiration.
You don't just talk about it but you do it!!!

I am so pleased for you and the gain was temporary and you sorted out how and why with all the weight watchers and the exercise.

You know I bet you are a skinny minny you exercise in such a way that I am sure your body is healthy and you have not lost muscle.

Anyway celebrating your retirement with you I imagine you will really gain the reality of how good that really can feel over the coming months.

I hope you are feeling on top of the World.

Soon you really might be with Kilamanjaro wow AMAZING Sharon Well Done.

You know I am always touched that you share things with us.

It really helps and I feel guided as I have from the first day I talked to you.

Congratulations my friend you are so grounded and I wish you so much fun and healthy happy days in your retirement.

With Thoughts and Best wishes to someone I really admire.

Yay!! Just knew that you were determined enough to get there.
You are an inspiration to us all.

Your "total" retirement is going to be fantastic!

Bugger that you have to deal with the bite. Not sure what has happened to children. Can't remember it ever being like that when I was at school (with the dinosaurs!)

This biter was severely disabled. Don't think he had any idea of right from wrong, I don't blame him for the bite. I do blame the regular ed 7th grader who threw a shoe at my face. The principal called it an "accident" as the child didn't aim at me. But if you throw a shoe in a room of 25 people, you may hit someone!!!
