This is the 2nd time for me on iron iron supplements of any kind. 1st time since my sleeve. I wasn't surprised the 1st time. I think at that time, it was more severe. I remember taking the kids to school, coming home, turning on Trolls (the youngest wasn't in school yet) and I would fall asleep during the whole movie. Her and I would sleep for hours. I'd get the kids from school at 2:30 and I'd be in bed by 9. Taking my 40mg of Adderall everyday did absolutely nothing for me. I take 30 mg now and I'm on the go from 6am til 11pm daily. Back then, I'd fall asleep driving. Thankfully I am not having that issue this time.

Usually the sleeve can increase a deficiency but not all people with a sleeve will become deficient (that would be more bypass patients). Also in many studies, it shows that anemia will increase during the 3rd year, exactly what happened to me, but I had a gyn issue explaining the biggest part of the issue. I need to wait for a few more months to see how it goes on that level..too early to know

Interesting they treat your MS fatigue with Aderall, I only knew about Retalin..(different countries, different meds!)

Also, for patients with MS, D deficiency can increase fatigue a lot. Do you know if your D level was checked?? I realized during my last blood test they forgot D again!! I have to go back for an other blood test...so annoying!!

Yes, it was. I requested that they check my liver enzymes, D levels, iron, electrolytes, magnesium levels on top of anything else he might check. I made sure to name those specifically because I knew that I was having symptoms that were related to all of those. Turned out to be my iron which I was surprised about. I really thought it would be my electrolytes and magnesium levels. Those levels weren't low but right on the money. He said he wants me to add electrolytes to my daily water intake since the temperatures are rising and I'll be burning a little bit more calories. I've already done that because I was starting to get foot cramps again from dehydration. Guess I just caught it right before my blood work.

Ya. They had tried me on Amitriptyline & Ritalin before Adderall but it didn't do me any good so they put me on Adderall. I've been on it since.

I'm typically not a pain med person, only used it for one day after the sleeve.

With my mom the only way we saw a "hospitalist" was when I burst in to tears one evening. Hadn't seen anyone all day. Try crying, it works.
My PCP, whom I adore, and all the other PCPs and gyns at one group decried the way they were being asked to treat patients (i.e., time and formula vs. diagnosis and tx) and rebelled, broke off and have gone into independent practice under a non-hospital umbrella. They are an awesome group of doctors, and without her, I would not have survived the many serious illnesses I have the last 18 years.

Having a health industry driven by profit-corporations that constrict and define the type of care that can be given (even by age groups and illness) to hit max profitable is just plain wicked, IMHO.
Speak out! Collective voices do have power. And I'm so glad EllisM80 has gotten some concrete answers because she has to give up.

We have to be our own, and others, advocate!
