Sandra -- you are a hero to me. With all your challenges you keep responding to the next challenge. You get so many gold stars from me. And yes, ditch your current therapist and find the right one. Good call.

Sraebaer ... see, I told you so. LOL! Actually, if I were much more mindful and could rely on that mindfulness to help me make on-the-fly healthy decisions about what and how much I choose to eat I probably wouldn't have to plan my meals and track my intake every day. But planning/tracking works well for me BECAUSE it helps me resist those temptations that crop up, often unexpectedly, throughout the day.

I did read all his books and watched all his videos before my surgery. Lots of intesresting things to learn there!

If I do recall correctly, someone on this forum said she was actually his patient. It was a few years back, I don't remember her name.

But I was surprised, when she was not reaching goal at some point of her journey (but not even one year), he gave her meds to help. It was a surprising approach for someone who's advertising for a whole food diet, based mostly on veggies...oh well...

I have downloaded all of his videos and I bought his book.
    Very interesting.
But, as with all things, I don't think there is only one truth.
I take what works for me, if it doesn't work, I find something else.
There are so many doctors, who claim they have THE diet.
We have to find a way of living and eating that suits us best.
English is not my first language, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Here's something I'm struggling with lately ... 8 glasses of water a day. Lately, I'm only getting down half that.

What tricks and tips do y'all have going on that front? FYI, I do find it easier to get down warm or even hot water than cold water.
I find a tad bit of lime works in my water -- but yes, its a struggle. And I shall have to really think about the sleep. I'm not getting enough sleep by anyone's standards, but that's not a new thing. Maybe 67 years?

I'm 21 months out -- working on figuring it out and bogged into a quandry!

Ann, sleep is an issue for me! like clockwork I wake at 3:30 a.m.! very frustrating. have the same bedtime habits, no changes,,, just getting older. after about 5 hrs I am AWAKE. LOL,,, since I start work at 8:30 that leaves a lot of time :-) sometimes I am able to get in a nap before work but not always. if I don't wear my cpap I feel tired the next day but if I do, I wake very refreshed. rarely I am surprised by waking at 5-5:30 but that is rare. I will try socks though

To Mem2222 and others struggling to improve their sleep hygiene ...

One other thing I have managed to change (not perfectly, but definitely better) when I wake up at 2am or 1 or even midnight is NOT to get so frustrated and, counter to common advice to "get out of bed if you can't go back to sleep," I DO go back to bed and try to relax so more sleep can come. I suppose, like all new habits, you can only acquire them if you actually practice them. And nobody is going to be good at something early on without some practice.

Anyway, this has made a big difference for me, resulting in most7 hours of sleep instead of 4-5 hours.

Of course, on those blessed, rare occasions when I get 8 or 9 or even 10 hours of sleep I wake up feeling like I could create a whole new world in seven days!

I'll say it again: Getting enough sleep is incredibly critical for my well-being.

totally agree! I give in to it now...not worth getting frustrated over! if this is my sleep pattern, who am I to mess with it? I blame it on menopause partly. LOL! i'm 58, that should be over now but still going. Heck, it could be worse.

I have been seeing a sleep doctor for years. He says the same thing, if I can't sleep get out of bed but do anything except play on your electronics, like your phone, computer, even TV. That light is supposed to mess with your sleep. He said to read, do the laundry, whatever. It does help a little.

    Dear Ann,

Thank you so much for those gold stars!!
I don't really feel like I deserve many, I'm just trying to navigate a medical labyrinth, full of mean and incompetent doctors. And so far the exit door seems far away...

I've been lucky to always like natural remedies/food and taking care of my children that way for years did prevent many of the issues I'm facing myself today. But sometimes it feels the more I study, the less I know...not really rational but just a few weeks ago I discovered I might have chemical poisoning from back when I grew up in the French West Indies. It would explain so many things....a few of my childhood friends who went back to the mainland a few years after me are actually being tested right now... they are really really sick...

Hopefully next week I will get more answers at least for the stomach. But I know at the end, the cost is going to be massive if I go private or go back to Taipei...

I have learned NOT to burn myself out. I always pay more than I gain when I get too little sleep. It took me awhile to learn some balance.
