    Default 5 days post op

Well I am 5 days out and really surprised at the amount of pain I havent experienced. I haven’t even needed any pain meds.. my most difficult thing is getting the fluids in. I’m trying really hard though. So far besides being pretty weak I don’t feel bad. I’m so ready to start adding food though.. not that I’m hungry but because I feel like I need some nourishment. I am down 16 pounds since the 15th which is the day I started my liquid diet. Praying everything continues to go smoothly for me. Thanks to everyone for all the advice on here. It has been tremendously helpful!

Awesome job! I've got no pain that paracetamol can't solve

I read your post and thought (did I write that) ? You have had my exact experience so far. My only advise is stay patient I so wanted to move on. It’s a slow go to begin. Just drink (sip your water) and start getting mentally prepared to start through the stages of food again. I wanted to see (try anything, something I wasn’t suppose to ) I fought that daily . Don’t get in a hurry to do anything for a week or so. If some people on this forum is reading my advise they are (laughing) ... I started walking daily 3 times a day 1-2 miles at a time. I knew I couldn’t eat but they said I could walk and I was the “Forest Gump” of my small town. I go for my 1 month post op Tuesday . So I’ll see what’s next..

I’m telling you and if folks will admit , a lot of this journey is MENTAL !!... stay positive don’t expect overnight changes. I got up daily for a couple weeks and ran to the bathroom ( to look In the mirror) I kept thinking Matthew Mcconahey or a Jason Aldean would be what I’d see . ( my wife really likes those two guys).. hell I didn’t even look like a fat (Garth Brroks) so I gave up .. LOL...

Seriously stay focused, you are doing GREAT or I hope U are because your starting just like I did !!

    Have a GREAT Day

    Russ

Congrats on your sleeve. Everyone is different. I had pain bc I don't do well with anesthesia but I knew that going into it. And even then, it was painful when I first woke up and I only took pain meds like 3 or 4 times the first week post op and then that was it. Be glad you haven't been in pain. As for food, yes....I was excited to go to the soft foods stage. I was sooooo over liquids. LOL. I also think that once you can start to eat a bit it does make things a lot easier.
