    Default ONE Wonderful Pound!

Everytime I travel I seem to give myself permission to eat whatever, and it always shows on the scale when I get home. Then it takes forever to get it off. I can work for 6 weeks to lose 5 pounds.

This time we were gone 2 weeks. Drove from KC to Nashville, picked up son at airport, dropped son and husband at the Natchez Trace, drove to Mississippi, waited for the bike riders, drove son home to Dallas, and drove home to KC. Fast food, hotels, kid's homes full of junk food, (not to mention Easter candy) and I only gained a pound. I did it! I just told myself I'm going to stick to healthy food, even if it meant a trip to the store for eggs.

Next I have to turn myself into a bike rider so I'm not just the sag wagon! But over 300 miles it a little much as the furthest I've biked is about 25.

Those of you losing, enjoy. Maintaining isn't as easy, at least not for me.

    Whoop whoop!
    Good for you!

I agree, the really hard work starts when we hit maintenance.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Totally hear you! And congratulations! I think maybe in my case, I sort of "fib" that the little bite (or exception) won't hurt. But apparently my body is way more honest than my thinking!

I feel a bit relieved that losing more than a pound a week is hard -- I thought maybe I was crazy! Congratulations!
Now I need to be inspired to move since its now better weather! I am having the winter lazy (added onto the fall lazy and holiday lazy).

Good for you! It's hard work but totally worth it.
If you do get into bike riding make sure that the saddle is really comfortable....they get very uncomfortable really quickly ;-)

Congrats sraebaer I'm thrilled that you were able to be away and traveling that long with only gaining that "one wonderful pound"! I often think about the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 10th years will be as well. You have really brought some much need info to the board in this regard. It is a lifetime lifestyle. Yes there will be occasions that we don't adhere 100%, but getting back on track quickly is important.

I asked my Doc at the pre op appointment Tuesday, "Does the stomach actually stretch and get bigger?" He said it's like a balloon. The first time you blow it up it's hard to do, it's so tight, but after blowing that balloon up several hundreds of times it does lose it's elasticity and can expand. I'm hoping to get back to my hard cardio days, I really enjoyed working out.
