Feeling full?

How do you know when you are full? I don’t even feel hungry... I mean between being a little sore and having no real appetite I really don’t feel hungry at all. I am 2 days out from surgery on all clears and dr dieticians just said to keep with the volume of my or-op diet.

Any comments welcomed.

I could really only manage small quantities of liquid - I just physically couldn't swallow anymore. It wasn't really a feeling of being full as such.
Later on I certainly would feel full and on the couple of occasions that I ate too quickly or too much I would vomit or have "toad froth" :-(

With regard to keeping up your fluids - little and often will be the key.

I agree with Lisa. I never had a full type feeling that early on. I just drank 1 ounce every 15 minutes for a week. Then I did 2 ounces every 15 minutes. I wasn't hungry but when I got to where I could have pudding, one bite was enough for me.

Your stomach in in shock right now.
It is swollen and bruised.
It does not give any clear signals, it plays dead.
But there also is a reason for the sip, sip, sip advice.
You cannot gulp down a whole glass of water like you used to, because your swollen stomach can only hold maybe a egg size volume.
Not more.
So every time you drink (or later on) eat, you have to visualize that egg.
Your egg will have that volume for the first couple of weeks.

Your full signal is not working yet, because your stomach plays dead.
You will learn your full signal maybe after a couple of weeks, when your stomach is healed and you start to eat solids.

You won't be hungry early on. That's one of the great things about the sleeve. Keep working on you liquids/protein drinks. That will help you heal and get your energy back. Take lots of naps, sleep is an important healer too.

You won't get that super full feeling until you start food. At least I didn't. You'll do great!

When you start eating soft food or solids you will definitely feel it. But it is tricky in the beginning. You won't feel it right away and it is very easy to overeat. The key is to eat slow and let your body have time to process it. For me, I get the hiccups if I eat too fast or too much. But when you start on foods you will learn your full signal pretty quickly. Because overeating is not a pleasant experience.

For me, full is very clear. It’s a feeling , almost like a dull ache, right at the top of what I think is my rib cage. Best of luck in your journey. You can do this. ��
