Default Met with my PCP today

I’ve been doing good as far as I know. I just can’t keep my energy level up.. I walk 1.5-2 miles at least 3 times a day.. when I get up.. noon and evening. I get my proteins and water in, I feel okay but I’m sluggish. I get tired when I stop, I was taking two different BP medicines and my wife said it had to be my medicine. Today for the 3rd -4th day in a row I get light headed. I decided to call and see if my doctor would see me..(She’s like family) I was told to come in and I went. My BP was 102-62 and my blood sugar was 78.

We talked for a while and she said “You know like I do, you are hard to regulate and I’m happy with the numbers but you coming off some medicine. She took me off one BP pill and cut the other dosage from 40mg to 20mg. She said she wants me to have more electrolytes. So I’m gonna start with Powerade Zero..

I weighed 2lbs less than I have been weighing at home but I’m not changing the ticker tape till I can confirm on the scales I normally weigh on.

I hope I have figured out the only issue I’ve had since my surgery date. She said I could start resistance training but no weight lifting till after the 30th. I asked about “Pickelball and Racquetball” and she said keep walking !! So I’m going to listen, I’m just so ready to be told OKAY YOUR OK to resume WHATEVER !!.... I’m working on being patient and I’m mentally preparing for my first stall I know it’s coming !!... but I wanted to share I’m losing Medicines !!... so to me that’s one of them non scale victories !!! Tomorrow I go to dermatologist I’ve seen dentist, PCP and tomorrow dermatologist and hoping I’ll be done !!...

Hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY and start to An even better week.

    RUSS

Glad you are doing well and staying positive! Yes you will have a stall soon. One concern.

Did your surgeon tell you to walk that much? Keep in mind you are getting hardly any calories right now. Your dizzy from burning it off too fast most likely. 6 miles at your weight is like 700-1000 calories, and I'm pretty sure that's around how many calories your getting. Call your surgeon on this stuff not PCP.

    Hey Russ!
NSV's are just as good if not better than the scale ones :-)
Coming off any medication is great. I'm really pleased for you.
I know that you are trying to make the most of this but maybe you are just doing a little too much exercise at the moment?
I love your enthusiasm though :-)

    Congrats on less meds!
    That is great.

I think it maybe a good idea to use your recovery time, well... to recover.
Take it easy on the walking.
You are not supposed to lift heavy weights for up to six weeks after surgery.
No lawn mowing, no cleaning carpets.
    No picking up babies.

I did not have a stall, not at 3 weeks, I actually never had a stall...
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

If there is one thing that I know about men, it's that they are stubborn, stubborn, stubborn! Lol. You really shouldn't be doing so much exercise yet. That being said, I love that you are so motivated to get up and get moving. I love non scale victories! Last night, a church friend of mine told me that I was going to blow away if I lost anymore weight. I don't see that but it makes me feel good that people that I see on a regular basis see the difference too.

Sounds like you're doing great, but I wouldn't increase your exercise until you are no longer lightheaded. Ever. That happened to me very early on and I just walked around the block so I could stop when it started. Didn't last long!

You'll "hit your stride" given time, hydration and protein. The medicine changes are tricky so be aware of what's going on and be your own best advocate for making sure you're progressing positively with the changes. I was diabetic and probably took my blood sugars about 6 times a day in the beginning to make certain I wasn't plummeting and blood pressure is a tricky co-morbidity to work with, so be aware!

It sounds like you're doing great! One day at a time and I found this time to be a great opportunity to plan my new lifestyle, including making fitness golas as I progressed. Continued success!!

    WooHoo, looking good Russ!
Why do I think you're not one to sit around AT ALL! I'm so glad you called the Doctor when you started feeling light headed. Already an adjustment in your meds is fantastic. You are an inspiration, but be careful not to over do it too soon. Did you have to do all these appointments as a follow up just because of the surgery itself?

    Take care.

NO !!... that’s called MY WIFE... She’s making me go somewhere everyday. All that’s left is my eyes and I got an appointment sometime soon .

She’s like “YOU change the clothes in the washer to the dryer.” .. “Fold the towels”. “Wash your dishes “.. I’m on Probation till I get cleared for work ..

I leave in the morning to walk and I have orders to text when I get back home. I forgot last week and she said she had already called the Sheriffs Office to see who was working, she was going to send someone to the house ... she frets over everything.. she’s mad now because after my evening walk I got on 4 wheeler and went to the creek... I forgot to get permission and it got dark before I got back. I didn’t have phone service at the creek.

It’s all good between her and her mom I have no “Want to sit around the house”. LOL

It could absolutely be your BP meds. Most people are told to stop taking them. I am one of the few people who still need my BP meds even though I am at a normal weight now. My father who had bypass back in the late 80's was told by his doctor to stop taking the BP meds as it would be dangerous. I would speak with your PCP and have them check your BP.
