    Default Hiccups ?

I知 12 days post-op, and have absolutely zero complications: I do think I almost had the dumping syndrome one time the other day. I got super nauseated the other day after eating peanut butter. I have progressed to soft solid foods and can tell I have a restriction with both eating and when I知 working towards my 64 ounces of water.

My question is hiccups? My only guess is I知 eating to fast? It don稚 happen ever time ,but if I知 eating my meals (a couple bites is my meal) sometimes I get hiccups. I致e noticed it痴 normally happening if I take that one last bite, I normally pass on. I知 curious if that痴 my body saying okay that痴 more than enough.

I get tired so easy, mentally I can do whatever I want as far as normal day to day activities. I have been walking and sometimes I walk and walk then have to find a seat. It takes 3-5 minutes and I知 ok to go again. I知 thinking I need to see my primary care giver. My wife thinks or has been told my daily meds maybe to much for me now although it痴 only been 12 days since surgery. I started walking the day after surgery ( now granted I知 not doing 5k at one time) but I知 getting 15000-18000 steps according to my Fitbit. I just want energy mentally I知 good... I hate all these damn vitamins though !!... if I could get my vitamins on a routine and get a little more stamina I知 going to be okay.

We have a Mtn retreat ( small house) 2 hrs from home. My kids call it an adult daycare because almost everyone here is in 70s-90 and from Florida. I came up here to break a routine or start new routines. THERES NO SCALES HERE. And everyday I was weighing at home. Some days a couple times a day ?.. I was getting to locked in to doing something every hour. At the Mtn house I walk and nothing else. I wanna play pickle ball. Surely I can keep up with these seniors? But right now I知 way behind some of these ladies walk marathons I think. I知 casually walking they speed walking or something ? They flat get it done ..LOL

Hope everyone has a GREAT DAY !!.. any idea about hiccups ? Let me know . I got to get my shoes on !! I heard dogs barking and looked out and the women (only 2 men I think) have started the morning walk and I知 feeling guilty.. I think they use me as a pacing marker how many times they can pass me while I知 doing my 1.5 mile.... LOL

    Congrats!
You already found your "full signal"!
When you eat slowly, like we all should do , and wait 30 seconds or more after swallowing your bite, you can notice your full signal.
That can be a little burp (mine is) , hiccups, sneeezing, runny nose, watery eyes.
When you have that signal, don't eat another bite.
    Really, don't!
    Stop eating right there.
That is probably THE most important rule in a successful weight loss and maintenance.
Never, never, never, never ever take one bite too much...
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

    I ditto DutchSleeve!

We all have a “signal”. Mine is runny nose. I stop immediately when I feel it coming on. If I don’t (I learned early in my journey) I will be hugging the porcelain throne.

Needing to sit often (physical energy drops) for me were usually tied to dehydration, Drink, Drink, Drink your water even when you don’t want to! It also required a Dr’s visit resulting in being taken off of meds I had been on for years.

I alternate between barimelts and topical patches for vitamins and minerals. They keep my levels where they need to be.

Keep on walking and soon you’ll be passing the others! :-)

I get hiccups if I eat or drink too fast. Guess it's my signal to slow down! And my surgery was over 5 years ago.

I was not allowed to have peanut butter at that stage. It was fine after one month.
But during the first month, nothing too sweet or too fat..

I also had hiccups if full, but also if hungry. I knew when or what because usually going with it the stomach noise would be different..

Small bites, chew 30 seconds, swallow, wait 30 seconds, take another. Try not to eat more than 2 or 3 ounces at a time. If you have to, measure or weigh your food. I bet if you do that the next couple days, you won't have the hiccups. Good luck!

Hiccups is my full signal, too. Only I can't depend on them now as I could in the early days. They come now way too late after I'm full. I'm a regular toilet hugger.

Yep, hiccups is my full signal too. :-)
You will soon be keeping up with everyone in the walking group.
Remember you are only 12 days post op and you have had major surgery! Please be kind to yourself.
Just stick to the programme, keep sipping that water and concentrate on getting your protein in and you will soon be feeling more energetic.
Sounds like you are doing just fine.

Russ I think it's awesome that you're walking and getting in so many steps. I hope I can get to that point as early as you have! I was a diehard cardio girl before I gained all my weight and I hope I can gradually work my way back to it, but I want to add strength training as well.

Are you getting enough protein and drinking enough water? That seems to be the most common responses to questions about fatigue. LOL! Glad you're doing well.

Hi Russ! So glad to hear that your post-op course is going so smoothly. 12 days out with NO complications is great! I am praying for a similar outcome when I have my surgery in June. All those steps are quite impressive too. Keep up the good work!

I was just reading through all my posts since joining this forum because I remember being weak for quite some time. It was around 2 months post op when i could actually have a normal active day. 1 month out, vacuuming two area rugs qore me out. Just thought I'd let you know that. Take some time to heal and regain energy. Rest. Enjoy the mountain air without draining your strength. Smile while doing it. Lol
