Default Surgery date in 2 weeks... advice and support needed

My surgery date is April 22 and I’m getting a little nervous. I know that’s normal and I’ve been on this board a lot the last few weeks reading everything I can find. I guess I just want a little reassurance... did anyone have any regrets? I start my liquid diet Monday the 15th.. any tips for that? I want this to be successful for me so bad. I have been a yo-yo dieter and my weight has been up and down for years. The older I get the harder it is. Now It’s time for a drastic change.. I just lost my father in March to complications from obesity and I have been devastated. I don’t want my kids to go through the same thing I’ve had to with my Daddy. I want to be happier and healthier. I just want to do this and it work. I’ve tried so many other diets that didn’t work and this just has to. I guess I just want to hear a little encouragement from others that have been there. 😊

Take a deep breath. It is going to be okay. Just remember why you are doing this. As for the liquid diet....expect to be a little hangry and have a headache. Have some Tylenol ready. My one regret....I thought about it for a long time before I finally took the plunge. I wish I had done it sooner. Just think about all the years you are going to be giving to your children when you get back to a healthier you. You got this Melissa!!

Being nervous is natural, but you need to be excited too. Excited about the new you that will emerge. The healthier, happier you :-)

The surgery is not a diet, it is a tool to help you change your life. Remember that it is not a miracle and that you will have to work at it too. But it is a great tool!

The liquid diet is probably the worst part of the whole thing. However it is for a finite time and the end goal is a successful surgery - so you just have to get on and do it....and really it's not that bad.

I have had zero regrets....only that I didn't have the means to have the surgery years ago. It has been truly life changing and I am still thrilled when I go shopping and am buying small clothes or I see myself in a shop window and do a double take because I still can't quit believe how small I am now.

This is going to be life changing for you.

There is a lot of support and advice here so ask any questions that you have and someone will answer.

All the best for the 22nd. Please let us know how you are getting on.

I have absolutely no regrets! I kinda miss food but that is the addicted part of my brain that is in counseling. Lol. I don't miss the extra back pain from being overweight. The pros far outweigh the cons. It's normal to be nervous but you are going to do great!

You will be fine and as long as you keep following the wls "rules" you will do great.
Wls is good for any age.
I was sleeved two years ago and I turned 65 yesterday.
The only regret (you will read this here many, many times) is that I didn't do this years ago.
    Good luck!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

It’s normal to feel nervous. My support people kept reminding me to BREATHE. LOL

My only regret is that I waited so long to have my surgery.

I was 63! I feel better than I have in years!

Best of luck as you embark on this awesome journey :-)

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. I started my liquid diet today and it wasn’t as horrible as I thought...Just a little bit of a headache. My surgery is a week from today and I’m stating to get excited. I went on a trip with a friend over the weekend and realized how totally out of shape and unhealthy I am. So so ready for a change!!

Hi, Thanks for checking on me. I feel like I’m doing really well. My energy level gets better every day.. I’m ready to start adding soft foods because I’m super tired of soups
