Sleep !!.... it was the best advice I had. Sleep all u can. I’m 6 days post-op and I remember feeling what u described the day of my surgery. I was super sore.
I promise everyday it gets better. I had a friend tell me do whatever to stay positive the first 72 hrs. She said “ you gonna hate me and swear I’d lied to you.” When I woke up I immediately thought of what she said.
BUT I PROMISE. Everyday it’s a little better. I never was sick, but I felt like I made a mistake because I was so freaking sore. I’m past it now and I’m ok.
I firmly believe your mental state is super important right now so I only have one suggestion.
Sleep...Wake up sip some water... SLEEP. That was best advise I got and I firmly think that’s a key.
Russ
I was vomiting for 3 days non stop. Got lots of anti nausea meds (shots) but couldn't keep a sip of water, they kept me on an IV the whole time. On the third day the surgeon said to drink fruit juice, so I had some apple juice mixed with water. It worked! Because the guts like sugar!
It will get better. the first week might be hard but the whole picture is to get your health back!
Hang in there! no regrets so early!! stay positive and try to visualize happy time or listen to music you love. Find a happy place. It will help!
Good luck and take care

I’m 7 days post-op and I also was regretting my decision the first day. I wasn’t too sore but I was sick for 4 days and super tired. All the advice I got was right on. Sleep when you can and sip your water. Ask as many questions as you need to to feel reassured that what your going through is normal. The people on this forum have been a wonderful support for me.
You had surgery yesterday and you are miserable? I bet every person on the planet who had surgery yesterday is miserable today. Sorry to sound harsh, but things will get better everyday. If you need help with pain, nausea, whatever, let your surgical team know.
Sleep all you can. That's all I did that first day (first week actually). I never even turned on the TV or got out my computer. Sleep helps with healing. When I wasn't sleeping I was sipping and walking a little.
I get sad when people say they wish they hadn't done it after just one day. I am positive you don't want to live the rest of your life fat. You've got an amazing tool now, make the best of it. Sending positive thoughts and prayers! You will see results beyond your wildest dreams. It's sort of like having a baby, painful for a moment, but then an amazing blessing. (And this surgery was way easier than giving birth!!)
"Buyers' Remorse", give yourself time, follow the program and hydrate. You should be feeling better in no time, but as everyone said, you just had major surgery, anesthesia and pain medication; of course you're tired. Vomiting happens to lots of people, perhaps you're drinking too fast, not walking enough, etc. Be patient as it's all worth it in the end and your life is going to change in numerous ways in a short time.
Move those shoulders, breathe, and keep moving but find a balance of rest and recuperation. Good luck!
No kidding!! but may be that's the thing. When we get older we have an other perspective. And are used to not expect instant results. I was actually prepared to have some really bad days post-op after the sleeve (because of my medical history) so somewhere I knew that a few days or weeks of pain was really worth saving years of my life...

Hope you are feeling better soon.
As above sip water every waking moment, walk when you can as often as you can, sleep and most of all be kind to yourself. You have just had major surgery.
Now to sound a little "new age and hippy" - Positive thoughts will really help your recovery. I was so excited about my new life that I absolutely embraced every new stage of my journey - even the pre op diet! It was such a thrill to know that I finally had a tool that would help me not only lose weight but keep it off. 19 months down the road and I am a very happy and contented woman.
It really does get easier every day and it's going to be soooooo worth it!. Hang in there.
I've been debating for a couple of years and read every book and article and forum online LOL. From what I've learned, this is a perfectly normal reaction. Hang in there, you've gone through the worst of it. My surgery is scheduled at the end of the month and I'm sure I'll think the same thing at some point. Best of luck to you!
Oh courtknee! I feel ya girl. I felt that way at first. I was dry heaving like crazy and in so much pain at first that I was instantly regretting it. BUT....it got a little better and easier each day. I also was super sore and took little cat naps all day long for the first 4 or 5 days. I had to take my liquid oxycodone 3-4 times that first week and the anti nausea the same. I didn't do well with cold liquids. Warm tea and creamed soups (1-2 spoonful's at a time) was all I could tolerate. Another thing that helped with the pain was a heating pad and using body pillows to get comfortable. Hang in there. It may not seem like it now but it will be sooooo worth it.
Y’all are the best. I’m usually such a positive person with everything in life but this has just been horrible. I thought this would be easier than a c section and so far that’s a no. I’ve slept a TON and plan on just sipping, sleeping and walking more today. Please keep me in your prayers. Lord knows I need it right now.
