Hi
I am 4 1/2 years out and cannot even remember the basics of WLS, Can someone please help?
I don't know if I ever did the basics as I have had a difficult time eating meat since surgery.
Thanks.
Terrie....I'm Teri lol
And I was sleeved 3 months after you.
The basics....always drink 64oz of water, always eat your protein 1st and take vitamins. Those are 3 that stick in my head. Are you feeling like you need to be loosing still or have you gained, or stopped loosing but want to loose more?
I have a problem with beef. I haven't measured by weight so I'm gonna say bites, I can eat 6 bites of chicken breast but I can only have 2 or 3 of steak. I still have restriction. You give me a burger and fries and I'll eat less then half the burger and 2 fries.
That reminds me, don't drink with meals. It's not only a matter of filling up on your drink, it's a matter of stretching that sleeve by drinking 8oz of whatever plus the food.
You can stretch a sleeve, it's still a stomach that is like elastic. It would take a lot of extra bites on top of being full over a long time to stretch but like a normal stomach you can stretch it and you can shrink it. (That all came from my doctors mouth)
If you need a "kickstart" I suggest doing what you had to do after surgery, what I had to do was something like this-
Liquid diet for 2 weeks followed by soft foods slowly to solids. I'd skip the soft to solid part but do the liquid diet for 2 weeks when you get to food stay around and under 1200 cal avoid carbs and slider foods (you know, the good stuff)
Exercise.
Track your calories, calories are the number 1 way to loose, cut them down, burn them off.

Proteins first, then veggies, and then if room, healthy complex carbs.

Good luck, you can do it!
