Default So excited to begin my journey

    Hi All,
I've been researching and looking at having VGS surgery for a couple of years. I made the decision in February to go for it. I was tired of hiding and letting life pass me by. I found a great, highly recommended Doctor and I've had my consults and labs and exams. I am self paying and was surprised but relieved at how thorough my Doctor has been before scheduling my surgery. I am waiting on my surgery date but am expecting it to be the last week of April.

It's been awesome reading here for the past few months. I've learned a lot of things from you posters who have gone through the process already. It's invaluable information and I appreciate you all sharing your experiences.

I just had surgery yesterday and it feels like I had just started my journey ( it was August when I first went to the surgeon ). You have a great resource here for any questions or concerns. I’m sure now that I am home recovering I will have quite a few questions myself. Good luck to you!

I have to be honest it’s a rough go right now. I insisted on going home after 24 hrs and I don’t think I was ready. I slept the whole day at home and now I’m way behind on my fluid intake. Pain is not so bad, thinking I’m trying to push the amt of fluids too quickly because I am very nauseated. I take a lot of meds and you’re only supposed to take 1 pill every 10 min so it’s taking me forever to get through my nightly bunch. But I expect the first few days to be ugly until I get a routine going. I have to wait until Sunday to start my protein shakes again, and if all goes well, then next Wednesday I can start cottage cheese or Greek yogurt.

I'm sure these are going to be the roughest days, hopefully each one will get easier. Good luck and sip, sip, sip LOL!
