    Default 7 day check in

7 Days post-op. I am down 13 pounds as of this morning from my surgery date and 25 pounds overall. I'm very much pleased with the progress and I think the 2 pound per day average is amazing.

The diet is progressing, but I still find it difficult to eat as much as I should. I should be getting 4-6 oz per hour, but I'm only getting that maybe every 2 hours. If I take in a little too much, then I feel real full and don't want anything for a while. I'm still dealing with how my body is sending me signals of hunger and feeling full... I can't explain it; it's just different.

I should be getting more protein, but I'm finding I am not liking the taste of my favorite protein drinks (Premier). I get an odd/off aftertaste from them.

Walking is good. I walked a mile total yesterday.

STILL dealing with pain and comfort management. I am still not able to sleep the entire night and now I am having back discomfort from sleeping in the recliner all night. I still have a lot of pain in the belly area and I'm a side sleeper. The doctor had me come in and do another upper GI. I am all good and he thinks the pain is unusual, but should go away. I started to use some muscle rub which helps a little.

4-6 ounces of what per hour? Are you on liquids right now? Your stomach should only be able to hold 4 ounces max right now. I wouldn't be concerned with making any more than that happen yet. As long as you are drinking your protein, you should be able to get it all in. When I first came home, I set a 15 minute timer and drank 1 ounce. That way it had time to digest before my next ounce. After a couple weeks, I was able to do 2 ounces every 15 minutes.

You are doing great. Well done.
Don't' stress to much about amounts at the moment. Just concentrate on getting as much protein and water in as you feel able to and keep up with the walking. Keep taking your prescribed pain relief - especially at night. You need good sleep to help you recover.

This is a 2 month old post.
I am not sure why Amelia is responding to so many topics that are old(er).
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.
