    Default I'm Back!

I had my surgery on 9/28/2012. At my highest weight I weighed in at 276. After surgery and over 2 years, my weight went down to 188. Then I started feeling great and not believing I needed to follow directions any longer. Long story short, I am now weighing in at 232 and am back on program. My knees are well so I am limited to the amount of walking I can do, but I can bike ride and swim. This is a journey and I've begun another chapter in mine.

    Hi Laura,

    Welcome!!
Many sleevers will experience a regain at some point.
But you probably still have restriction, so going "back on the horse" you will get that extra help from your sleeve!

I did regain recently with (long story short) meds, especially cortisone since my asthma was out of control for months, I had several issues combined.I only stopped the cortisone recently, and my weight is very slowly going down, but since I just had surgery I'm no pushing it yet.

My advice would be to get a blood test done to make sure you don't have deficiencies, because deficiencies could increase your appetite. For example when my anemia was raging I was more hungry, with cravings for sweets...as soon as I had better levels, I was feeling better.

Since I have been tested for like "almost everything under the sun" I also know my restriction is still very good, because my sleeve is 210 ml. Yours should be good too, usually the size stay the same after two years.

So no worries, you are not the only one with regain!! but we can succeed for sure! it's just a matter of finding a new balance.

Come back often and keep us posted on your progress!

    Take care!

Thank you so much for your words. It's always best when we know that we are not alone with our struggles. Not only did I rejoin this forum, but I am rejoining my support group weekly meetings at my Dr. office. It's been a while, but I do feel so much better when in control.

    Again, Thank you!

BTW- Where in France are you? You just happen to live in the country that I would like to be!

    Your very welcome!

I'm back in France since September 2017, after +15 years overseas in different countries. Work is in Paris but home is in the countryside. Since I'm French, being back is "nothing special" and if I'm happy to see some of my friends more often, many are overseas...can't wait to get ready for our next move! should have been this Summer but since my health has been tricky, I'm not sure anymore. I should find out soon.

Anyway, if you are planning a trip, let me know, I could give you some pointers to where to go! (besides Paris) there is many great side of the French culture that are far away from Paris, plus there's way too many tourists in Paris you want to see "real French people in their usual habitat"

First, I hope your health improves greatly so you are not limited on your adventures.

I've been to France only 3 times, but am so looking forward to going back within the next 2 years. I will absolutely inquire with you for tips on where to go. I love the idea of being with the Frenchmen in the natural environment as apposed to just in Paris with mostly tourist.

    My best to you....
