    Default Exercise stopping my weight loss

    I'm 8 weeks post op today and was down 35lbs but I'm up 2lbs since last week. Not eating much and havent had a real carb since mashed potatoes on weeks 2-3. I walk a mile, jog 1/2 a mile, and elliptical for 30 minutes and less than 10 minutes of weights ( much lighter than I would usually lift). I also do 30 pushups a day but I can't accept building muscle because I was a muscular guy who let a lot of fat build up around me. I'm hoping that this standstill for the last week is normal because I have another 50lbs to go

    Hi there.
    Could just be a dreaded stall, could be that you need to eat a little more?
    I'm no expert and I'm sure someone else will be along soon that has experienced the same thing.
    Maybe a call to your surgeon to check that you are still on the right track?
    Those 50lbs will definitely disappear - never fear!

    Hello

    I was a slow loser and it took me 2 years to get to goal. Sometimes I would gain 2 pounds one week and those would be gone with a bonus the following week. Weight loss after surgery is different from what you could observe with "just diet" before.

    The most important is to eat your protein (around 80gr for a man), drink your water and have a balanced diet. Stalls are normal and expected, the body needs time to catch up.
    I would recommend to only go on your scale once a week. 2 pounds could be nothing (who knows, too much salt?) and is not significant but can stress you out.

    The best way to avoid stress is to trust the process, follow your guideline, drink your water. You will be successful!

    Stalls are always normal, and exercise is the best thing you can be doing for your health! Keep up the good work. Maybe hide the scale a while.

    I always say that the scale is the devil. It's natural to want to jump on it, but the numbers don't mean that you aren't losing. Try to limit yourself to one day a week. Sounds like you're in a stall, which we've all had at the beginning.

    Don't go by the scale 100%. When you start exercising, your body is re-adjusting; re-shifting. You very well could be replacing fat with muscle, which weighs more than fat. This is a good thing. Keep grinding and the scale will resume its decent.
