    Default Protein Shakes

    Hello All

I am 4 months away from surgery and I am going thru all the hoops and appointments. I met with a dietitian and they told me about the Protein shakes that we will have to eat after surgery. She recommended the Premier brand shakes. I tried the chocolate and had a hard time drinking it. Has anyone had issues with it? Didn't like the taste of it? Any other brand or flavor better?

I don't have an issue with the taste of Premier. I like the peach best. However, I have an issue with them satisfying me. They do not give me a full feeling at all. The protein shake I drink keeps me full for hours. Mine is probably not suitable for you in the beginning as it is also an energy drink. It is so delicious, and I'm addicted.

The best thing to do is try a lot of different shakes/drinks.
Ask for samples or only buy small amounts. Even if you find something that you like prior to surgery your tastes may change afterwards so don't be tempted to stock up!
18 months out I still have a protein shake most mornings for breakfast. It's quick and easy (I have breakfast at work) and it gives me a good start on my protein count for the day. I use an Optimum Nutrition 100% whey protein. My partner is a gym bunny and uses this too so we get a large tub (5lb) however we change the flavour with each order so that we don't get bored with the same flavour.

I drink Premier mostly. But I do also like the "Nectar" fruit flavored powders from Syntrax. You can get a sample pack of these online and through Amazon. I also liked the taste of Muscle Milk Light in Chocolate.

Hello Larman: I know that our taste buds can be different But I found unjury to be really good. as I am sort of hard when it come to stuff like this. as you can see I've been through what you are getting ready for. Today I'm waiting on my unjury to come in. I had to order it. They do have starter kits with different flavors. That is where I started. Liked them so I decided to go back for more.

Hi! That is my go-to protein drink. I have tried all the flavors and the best for me is the chocolate. I combine it with my coffee in the morning and pretend it is a Mocha! The other protein I use is Muscle Milk light. Has less protein, but is a thicker chocolate. Hope this helps.

I like Premier, but not the chocolate. I'm not a chocolate fan in the first place. I like the Vanilla and the Bannana the best. I make smoothies with them + an avacado. I mix the Caramel with cold-brew coffee Premier probably has the best bang of protein to carb ratio. I've been on it now for a week on my pre op diet.

If you like chocolate and want a hi protein / low carb, try the Isopure Dutch Chocolate.
