    Default Colonoscopy

I had a colonoscopy and the scope that goes down your throat. They took stomach and colon biopsy, they also removed one small polyp.

I drank the full 4 litre pre in 8 hours.

Tonight I am in so much pain it feels like all my stomach muscles are pulled. I don’t know if it’s cause what was done, the fact I drank so much so quick.

Has anyone else had one and felt horrible after.

    Hi Jen,

I had an endoscopy last month and felt bad for two days, with pain and stomach cramps.

I didn't have to drink any liquid before, only had to be fasting, and I only had a local anesthesia so was awake for the whole thing. It was pretty horrible to say the least. And without going into too many gross details, the scope is not tiny, they also blow air during the exam so the stomach folds open. So it does explain why the after period is painful. Hang in there! it will go away soon! take it easy and drink plenty of fluids. I did avoid food for at least 24h, was drinking warm liquids, broth, herbal tea and soup so the stomach could rest. I found that drinking warm fluids did help a lot. I was fine the third day. But if your symptoms get worth, or if you have a fever, you should see a doc asap.

    Take care!
