    Default Ring resizing

I'm approaching my goal weight of 250. I'm a man 6'5" with a 30 inch inseam(long torso) and large build(my finger and thumb don't touch wrapped around my wrist) so my goal weight is higher than most on here. I plan on losing a bit more than goal.

One thing that happened early was my wedding ring no longer fit(yep finger fat). We've held off on resizing as I've lost but with the wedding anniversary coming up my wife and I have talked about her getting it resized as her gift to me.

Does anyone have any experience with whether this is the right time to do it? Am I going to continue losing ring size? How much did this cost you when/if you did it and did you just do it once or multiple times as you shrank?

I'm a woman and a slow loser. I could have had my ring resized at least twice, after 12 months, then 24 months.

Resizing is not that expensive if the ring is a plain band, but one of my ring is a diamond eternity ring, and I'm still waiting for my weight to be stable to decide what to do (I did regain after two years with meds for my asthma) because to resize that one it would cost a lot.
I did get a smaller ring to block my diamond ring, at some point I was scared I was going to lose it.

I would recommend to wait until your weight is really stable, and the same for at least six months.

I haven't had my rings resized yet....but I'm probably at a stable weight to be able to do so now. From memory when I have had it done previously it wasn't that expensive - and if you are going down in sizes they use the gold that they take out as a credit towards the cost - at least they do here in NZ.

I had mine redone when I dropped under goal (down to 123). I went back up to 130 and it was still loose.
I had my wedding band resized (lost part of the inscription which I didn't even think about; my engagement ring at the same time, and my eternity band. The eternity band change ended up in a lost diamond after I got it home.

My rings went from an 8 to a 5 and the cost for all three was about $375 and I used a local, long time in place jeweler in our town rather than a chain.
I don't know if that helps. But you can go to several places and get estimates, which is a pain.

Sorry if there's a way to edit instead of adding second post I don't know it. My rings are still loose and I take them off and put them away if I'm doing something where they might slip off. And with women, their is sometimes a bit of swelling in hands...

I waited until I was done losing and maintaining for a while before I resized. I was scared to do it. You definitely do not want to resize multiple times because they say it weakens the ring. I was also scared with how small my new ring size was. Even though I am the size I was when I was younger and thin, my new ring size was smaller. (5.0 versus 6.0) I made the jeweler size it at 5.25 to be safe. So far no issues. As far as cost, when you go smaller the fee is usually pretty minimal. I think it cost me $20.

I lost my engagement ring when I was losing weight!!! take it off or get it changed! I did score a really nice replacement with more diamonds though, so silver linings ;-)
