    Default Gettin It Done

    Hi.
Been trolling this site for a while and thought I would say hello since Im pretty sure Im going through with the surgery. Im 41 male and am 6'1 and about 3 large, I live in North Dallas and have 4 boys and a shorkie. Ive been steadily gain the weight since I was about 26 and am trying to mitigate any further or possible damage(especially to the heart). This is the largest I've ever been and am starting to deal with some sleep apnea. OF course, Im pre D and I've got the high B to the p. Oh and, Im on my 4 visit to the "dietitian" out of my 6 (per UHC) so I'm pretty close to surgery (don't have a date but getting nervous now) My wife is an RN and had the surgery about 9 years ago (before we met) and is been advising me to getter done. Im feeling blessed that I have her to guide me through all of this but any additional opinions and or advice are always welcome, hence why I'm here...anyway....Greetings from Texas.

    Njo

We have a lot in common, I'm 6'2 350ish and 52 y/o. I also have all the medical issues you described, and I hate my CPAP.

I go March 5th to meet with the Surgeon, I'm excited and nervous but I've decided I'm having the surgery.

The only thing I can tell ya is be patient, it's about drove me crazy (hurry up and then wait).

I so hope I can have a surgery date by the end of March, but who knows. Meeting the surgeon, then insurance approval is all I have left to do.

I've done a test run with all liquid diet for 2 weeks, it's mentally challenging, but I had no real issues.

I lurked on here for a while too, but now I come to this site almost daily just to read and sometimes post. I'm just not real savvy when it comes to replying to post.

I'd like to keep in touch since we have so many similarities, and supportive wives.

I have looked and was hoping to find someone that may be having the surgery around the same time.

I'm new here too, but you will find some of these ladies know there stuff and are very open and informative.

I come to this forum to see the positive encouragement, but also the real life issues folks face.

I'm just an Ole country boy from rural N.C. that's decided to get myself in check so I can enjoy retirement and hopefully one day grandkids

    Welcome.
How wonderful that you have your wife for support. Having someone who understands what it is all about by your side is invaluable.
This is also a great place for support, advice and a bit of a laugh :-)

Welcome NJO - lots of great information here, some guys who "gotter done" and maximized their success; your wife will be a wonderful support; my husband is, even though not a VSG person, my best best help in succeeding.

Welcome Neal. You are definitely going to love being sleeved. You have the added bonus of having a spouse that has been through the process, understands it, and can support you on your journey. That is worth its weight in gold.
