Default How did you feel 6-7 months out?

    Hi all,

I’m almost 7 months post sleeve and have lost 68lbs so far. I’m Feeling really good, can tolerate everything, no heartburn I honestly wish I’d done this years ago! My weight loss has really slowed down recently, stall after stall after stall which I know was to be expected but is still frustrating! Am interested to hear how everyone else was doing at this stage?

Recently I feel as though the amount I can eat has suddenly increased, I don’t have that full/stuffed feeling anymore so instead of eating until I feel full I stop eating when I think I’ve had enough. I’m worried that my stomach has stretched - is this even possible?? Has anyone else felt like this at this point? I’m not sure if it’s this or maybe that my head and my stomach have synced up a bit more?!

    Thanks all! 😊

Even if you think you can eat more, you are so smart not to overeat. Your stomach used to hold about 32 oz, or a quart. It now holds a bit less than 6-8 oz for most of us. If you measure/weigh or track your nutrients and portions, you'll be fine. the stall is normal, as we frustratingly know. Recheck your protein to carb numbers; are you getting enough water? I try to drink 4 oz of liquid about 30 minutes before eating. And I don't drink with a meal, ever. I weight about 30-40 miniutes. Hope it resolved.

    Don't worry.
As long as you did not chronically ate way too much, your sleeve is not stretched.
Just weigh your food and you will be fine.
I am now more than 2 years out and my stomach capacity is around 7/8 ounces.
That does not mean I can eat 8 ounces of fish or other dense protein though.
But I never eat more than 7/8 ounces and I still weigh my food most of the time.
I can eyeball that amount and most of the times I am right, but I was one of those people, whose eyes were bigger than her stomach...
So from time to time I still check.
I am not sure how much my stomach could hold when I was 6 months out, I did not write that down, but it can't have been more than one third to half a cup.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

At the beginning the weight just falls off, but remember your stomach is swollen and the amount you can eat is very small. Plus you’ll be on a liquid diet etc. Weight loss slows down the more time that goes on but just stick to it and you’ll be fine! Good luck!

I felt totally normal at that stage. I lost weight most weeks, but had some gains or "stay the sames."

While you won't have that full feeling like you will die if you eat one more bite anymore, you will feel satisfied and learn when to stop. I still feel full after 5 years, but not "sick" full like early on.

Just keep on trucking, you're doing great!

As all above, you are doing just great. 68lbs is fantastic!

We all lose differently. Some fast, some slow, some intermittent. I thought that I was done losing a couple of months ago and then last month I dropped another 1/2 kilo. Hadn't done anything different at all - and it has stayed off. Go figure!

I'm 17 months out now and can eat just about anything however I still weigh and measure my food and eat off a side plate. It's really easy to load up your plate and try and eat it all - guaranteed you won't be able to and all you will do is make yourself feel ill. My signal to stop is that I start hiccupping a little.

Keep to your surgeons instructions and all will be good.

I can maybe eat 10% more but I've gotten used to how much I can eat. Probably also slowed down how fast I eat. Biggest thing is that I don't get as sick from certain things as I used to. For instance I can eat salad now.

Thanks all. I get so worried that something will go wrong or I’ll stretch my stomach out. I had a band previously that slipped and had to be removed and so many people knew I’d had it done so felt like a failure when I never lost any weight so really don’t want to fail again!
