Default How long on full liquid diet?

I'm one week post-op and was instructed to be on a full-liquid diet (for 2 weeks) until after my 1st follow-up appt which will be one week from today. I have a friend who used a different surgeon and she was instructed to be on a full liquid diet for one week post-op and then be on soft/pureed diet the 2nd week. I'm just wondering why the difference? I'm HUNGRY and I'm so sick of soups, etc....Any advice? Thanks!

You will find that different doctors have different guidelines. I would follow the guidelines given to me by my surgeon.

My doctor gave me two weeks as well. I did it, the hunger does fade believe it or not. Try to stick with it, you will move the next stages weekly.

Follow the orders from your surgeon, not any one elses.
    You will get through this!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Yep, follow your surgeon's orders. I was on protein drinks and other liquids for 2 weeks, mushy food for week three, and then other foods introduced each week. I was cleared for all food at week 6.

Are you really hungry? Have another shake. Take a walk.

Could be acid reflux. Are you on something for that? Good luck!

I'm going to be on liquids for 2 weeks too. I know it sucks and I won't be thrilled, but we can get through it. Best wishes!

Yep the post op instructions differ from surgeon to surgeon.
    Please follow your surgeons instructions!
As mentioned the hunger could be acid reflux. You should have been prescribed something for this - if not ask.
If it's not that and you have tried another protein shake then maybe try to distract yourself when you feel hungry - go for a walk, read a book, phone a friend?
It will pass and you will soon be through the post op process and onto your new "normal".
