My suggestion is to go to GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe and buy ONE of whatever looks good to you. They basically come in three categories: the creamy ones (like muscle milk), the clear ones (like Isopure), or powders to mix with milk or water. When you find something you like, but it in bulk, but not until you have tried it first.

After surgery I liked Isopure orange diluted with a lot of ice. They sold the by the case at GNC. Counted toward my liquid and protein goals. Now 5 years later I like the Premier Protein Vanilla that I buy in an 18 pack at Costco. I still have one a day.

I liked Slim Fast chocolate protein shake pre-surgery but hated it after. I did like srarbaer suggested. Tried it and then bought it in bulk. I stopped buying in bulk right before surgery because my surgeon told me that my taste buds would change and he was right on the money. I haven't found one that I like since. I'm just tolerating them now.

Pre-op and post op I've been mainly making my protein drinks from powder. I particularly like the biPro Chocolate exactly for the reason you state, many of the others are too sweet (plus its that artificial sweetener sweetness). The biPro vanilla tastes off to me but again if you are looking for less sweet it is that. Amazon sells it. I'm about 6 weeks post op so I drink it in 4 oz servings and that's 16 grams right there.

1 scoop of biPro, 8 oz of Fairlife Fat Free and you are getting 4 grams protein per oz. And I think its a little "cleaner" than the pre-made drinks which have ingredients in them that allow them to sit for over a year in an unconditioned warehouse (I don't maybe those ingredients are good for you).

When I travel and can't make a drink from powder I'll drink Premier. My nut suggested I try Core Power Elite cut with some fat free milk. One 14 oz serving has 42 grams of protein which is too much for one sitting (not that I could drink 14 oz in one sitting anymore). It also has less sugar than regular Core Power which she does not recommend on that basis.

Isopure is a nice alternative for when I don't want a "milk" based protein drink for sure. Last time I was in Costco they were selling one flavor by the case.

Keep looking, there are probably 10 times the protein drinks out there now compared to when I had surgery over 5 years ago. Everyone's getting on the protein bandwagon. Hopefully you can find something you don't just have to tolerate.

Target has a brand called integrated supplements. It is not too sweet and comes in chocolate, strawberry & vanilla. It's naturally sweetened.

I like Genepro unflavored but can't find it in any stores. Have to order it online. I just got 3 lbs of Isopure Vanilla so I have to finish it first because I'm a penny pincher. Lol
