    Default Fun in the Cold!

    Attachment 28142

Had the most beautiful hike in my woods this morning, first tracks in the snow! We had about 4 inches. It was fun trying to identify the animal tracks. I should be in a Land's End commercial because my down coat keeps me so warm in 20 degrees with just one layer underneath. Even tested out my new hiking boots for being waterproof for Kilimanjaro. Warm feet.

I think I'm getting back in the game! Packing for Colorado this weekend is helping too.

You make me feel so lazy! LOL
No kidding, that must have been great!
I don't know where it is, but is there much wildlife there?
I am making my bucket list with animals I definitely want to see, when I come and visit the USA!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Almost daily I see deer, squirrels, beautiful birds, and turkey. Sometimes turtles and snakes, only once a copperhead. Once in the winter I saw a beautiful red fox. I'm in Missouri, nothing exotic.

Seeing it's a nature preserve, the deer are practically tame. They just look at you walking by.

If you are looking for wildlife I would definitely put Yellowstone on your list. What time of year is your trip? In summer the National Parks can get quite busy. Of course now they are closed, which is sad because we had planned to visit Rocky Mountain National Park next week. Now we will stick to skiing.

We will be starting in Baltimore (where the RV arrives on a ship from Europe) the end of March (next year, first we have to do some serious money saving).
Then we travel up north till the Canadian border, go east and visit the obligatory Niagara Falls, then through Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and Kansas to the Rocky Mountains and north again to Yellowstone (and everything in between), up to Canada and Alaska.
We plan to visit Alaska from June till half of September (I want to see the bears feed on the salmons).
Then Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada and Utah.
By that time it will probably be November.
From there down south and east again.
New Orleans en Florida and then back to Baltimore, from where we go back to Europa again.
    Lots of plans!

If you go through Kansas City and we're home, come visit! I'll take you hiking!

My favorite national park is Arches. Don't miss that one. Buy a yearly pass and see all you can see. Glacier, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, and Great Sand Dunes are all really amazing too. Don't know your age but 62 is considered senior price.

    Thank you ladies!
I am 65 by then, so I'll qualify for the senior passes. lol
All of the above suggestions are on my list already, except for the Great Sands Dunes, I just added them.
A quick peek at my itinerary tells me, that we we will be taking the I70, so we will be travelling through Kansas.
    Who knows?
    Would be fun!

Here's hubby and I climbing the dunes. It would actually be a cool place to camp, not sure if it's tents only or not, but they are open 24 hours so people hike it at night to see the stars.Attachment 28143Attachment 28143

Sharon, what an inspiring post and answers!
We're trying to get ready for 5 days in the Grand Canyon this summer -- we've done most of the major parks (well I lived out West so it was easier) -- I would also suggest the rain forest up in Washington, as well as the Mazama area, which has first growth forests (never cut)....I wish NC had a more hospitable climate -- as in one without giant can't see ums and mosquitos! I am not a bug fan, nor a fan of Deet.

Glad you are back on track. <3
