    Default Kidney issues post surgery?

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've been on due to hectic life circumstances. I was wondering if anyone here has had kidney issues following surgery?

My glomerular filtration rate which is a factor in kidney function, decreased after surgery. I had blood work done one month before surgery and my GFR was >90 which is normal.

3 months post surgery it was just >60. One year out, and it's still just >60, and my creatinine level was a little bit elevated. Not pathologically so, and there was no protein in my urine, BP was 93/58 so no blood pressure issues, so technically they're functioning ok, just sluggish.

My doctor told me the high protein diet is probably stressing my kidneys and told me to try eating 50-60g of protein per day and recheck in 6 months. I was eating 80 + g protein per day.

I was just wondering if it's just me, or if anyone else had issues with their kidneys on a high protein diet?

No, nothing like that happening here. And I eat a LOT more protein than you (usually 100 grams and sometimes a little moe).

However, I also reat 5-8 servings of veggies and fruits daily, too. I wonder if that offsets it. No reason why I should think so, just thought I'd mention this since I know I eat more veggies and fruits than many post-WLS patients.

One thing I do know is that human bodies are SO FREAKIN' DIFFERENT! We just have to find out what works best for each of us.

    Best to you, girl.

Yikes. No I have not had any issues but have heard that before. I would definitely try eating more veg and drinking more water. Good luck.
