    Default Protein powder suggestions

Yesterday was my last pre-op nutrition appointment. Everything went great untill I mentioned that unjury protein powder made me extremely nauseous and I wouldn't be able to use that brand for the 14 days pre op diet. My dietitian was very upset and implied that there was no other choices out there. I figured that is impossible and they are only pushing the one brand because their hospital sells it and probably makes a kick back from it. However, I can't stop worrying about it so here I am asking if anyone can please give me any suggestions for protein powder or shakes I can use instead? I read about inspire protein powder a little, has anyone every tried it? My main problem with unjury was the froth that formed at the top and I had a horrible time getting all the lumps out. Thank you in advance for your help.

I use muscle milk. It has 30 grams of protein and I like the chocolate flavor.

I like the Atkins High Protein low carb ones. A lot of people like the Premier Protein (that one makes me queasy, though). I also really liked the EAS Advant Edge but I can't seem to find it anymore. My WLS center sold Bariatric Advantage Shakes. I liked them pre op but post op I couldn't stand the flavor anymore. Pre op your only concern is high protein and low carb. Post op we have to make sure we get a good quality shake with extra nutrients. I say for the pre op have whatever you like as long as it is low carb/high protein.

For a powder I use biPro Chocolate and unflavored, you can get these through Amazon (prime even ships way faster than unjury). I don't like biPro "french" vanilla - has an odd taste but that may just be me (taste is a very subjective thing). I like the biPro because its not as heavily sweetened as some of the others I have tried, every drink does not have to be a dessert substitute. 1 scoop of biPro and 8 oz of Fairlife fat free mik = 33 grams of protein, not too shabby.

As far as foam management, biPro mixes fairly well, it seems finer than unjury. I use a stick blender, low speed and as short a time as possible. I will make my drink early in the day and let it set in the fridge for a while to settle out. I think you will always have some froth when mixing any powder with milk.

I like Premier and Adkins. Avoid Ensure, it's got a lot of sugar in it and is more for other uses than folks like us.

Either biPro or Dymatize hydrolyzed whey natural. Both are high quality protein with little fillers.
