Default New to VSG-Procedure 04/12/19 in Mexico

Hi guys, I'm so excited about this process that I jumped in head first without a life vest. I have already scheduled my procedure and paid my deposit for Dr. Almanza. However, it was brought to my attention "Google" that there is a travel advisory for procedures in Mexico through the CDC because of US Citizens coming back with "Pseudomas XDR aeruginosa" which is a result of a contamination. I have spoken with a representative from Weight loss Agents" and they assured me that the problem had been resolved.

So my question is has anyone currently in the US recently had the procedure in Mexico. If so, how are you feeling now?

Thank you and I look forward to learning from you all.

I did in October. Everything was great.

Mexico would scare me to death. Putting you in a hotel room after surgery? A guy knocking on the door to sell you pain meds? For me it was worth the $14,000 a few miles from home. But hundreds (probably more) of people here are thrilled with their Mexico experience, so it's your decision.

Just be sure the doctor totally reviews your health history. A friend here almost died years after surgery because they operated on her without knowing other procedures she had had. And be sure you have a doctor that will agree to follow up when you get home.

Not to say a doctor in the US couldn't make a mistake. Best of luck to you.

I have a cousin who had Dr Almanza for her surgery. She said it was great. She said the care was definitely different than here in the states but it was also much cheaper and made it more affordable to do self pay. I have heard good and bad about Almanza and having surgery in Mexico...but having said all that I still feel it is worth it. I am scheduled for surgery on 2/1. I will definitely let you know how it goes and what to expect. I wish I had someone on here who could give me more ins and outs of having surgery with Dr Almanza. I want to do that for others--share my experiences so they can benefit from it.

Trust me. I was trying to get it done here in the U.S. The insurance through my job doesn't cover it and I would have to purchase insurance through the market place that does. That's like having double insurance for no reason. I'm 34 and healthy so on my own the quotes I got were through the roof.

Thanks for sharing. That's exactly what I was referring to. I was told that the hospital was shut down and completely cleaned so I can only hope for the best. I'm I'm too deep now.

    OK, here's my opinion:

If the booking agency (Weight Loss Agents) assured [you] that the problem had been completely resolved, but they couldn't be bothered to respond to The Washington Post's questions and instead said the reports of infections were due to "a competitor's smear campaign," I'd think (bluntly) WTAF?!

At the very least, in your shoes I would require Weight Loss Agents, the surgeon, and the hospital to assure you IN WRITING regarding what specifically they have done to "completely resolve" the problem and IN WRITING to assure you that there will be no similar problems with your surgery.

You're never "in too deep" until you've had surgery.
