    Default Vitamin Question

Hi guys - I saw the nutritionist today, first time post-op! She said its time to start my multivitamin. I had a chewable centrum but she said that is not good enough. I need to get some bariatric specific ones. She recommended bariatric advantage but holy cow - 49.99 for 30 day supply on amazon - I do not feel good about that!

Anyone recommend another vitamin that has the same or similar nutrient counts - for bariatric patients that is cheaper? I am targeting like $1 a day type prices. I will do what I have to do, but I thought - ask the experts!

Check out ProCare Health bariatrics online. Very small, chewable, one a day, bariatric multi-vitamin. $11.99 for 30, so a one month's supply. I still take them after 5 years, but now I take them in capsule form, big ones you have to swallow. Now they are cheaper because they come with 90. Free shipping if you buy a certain quantity.

    Hi Dottie,
I got most my vitamins at vitacost.com or Walmart (or iherb when living oversea).

At first, the first week post op I was taking a liquid multi. My team (I had surgery in Asia) offered several options at the clinic, but the multi was made in Japan and the taste did bother my stomach.
After that I had a liquid from Vitacost, and did switch several times for regular vitamins.
I do have chronic deficiencies (was there before the sleeve) and take really high dosage.

    Take care

Why do you need to take the expensive bariatric vitamins?
My nut gives me vitamins I can buy in a drugstore, over the counter.
    They work really well.
    And why shouldn't they?
We do not have malabsorption with the sleeve.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I take the gummy womens vitamins, and take them to meet the bariatric requirement - I also take gummy biotin. My nutritionist said they are fine, and I can tolerate them. My blood work is all "perfect" for the first time in my life.

I second the suggestion for Pro Care Health Bariatrics. I buy a 90 day supply. Once or twice a year they go on sale. Maybe 34.99 for a 90 day supply. My blood results are great after 15 months.

Ask the different companies for free samples. I totally get it, and hate the vitamins anyway! Waiting to get my freebies!

Everyone's different! My nutritionist freaked when I told her that after so many years I had switched to generic Walmart multi-vitamins. She said they didn't have everything we needed. So I went back to the bariatric (ProCare Health) ones. And when I compared labels, they really were different. They did tell us we would have to be on vitamins for life. My blood work came back fine after 5 years just last week, so maybe it works!

I only took the bariatric ones for a month. Then I took regular ones. I have never had a vitamin deficiency. I suppose the very beginning is the most crucial time.

I know I found chewable vitamins on unjury.com which are bariatric specific. It’s the same site where I got my protein powder from. I don’t remember prices but I find them helpful. I can take regular pills now as I’m 5 months out, but I still take the chewable form of the iron since I am deficient.
    Hope this helps.

I take a clinicians brand (not sure if you can get them in the US) Multivitamin and mineral supplement as recommended by my surgeon. Not specifically for bariatric patients. All my bloods are perfect so something must be working.
