I have been on a downward spiral over the last two weeks. I got done with my steroid therapy for my MS relapse on Tuesday, January 8th. Before surgery, I would take Lasix after all those IV steroids to release all the water I retained. So on Friday, January 11th, I did just that. I went to Goodwill with my mom and shortly after, I felt like I was gonna pass out. I made my purchase, took my mom home and came home. I didn't know why I didn't feel good or have ANY energy whatsoever. On Monday, January 14th, my daughter was really sick and I had to take her to the ER. I figured while I was there, I would ask to be seen too. They said that I was severely dehydrated and gave me some fluids. I felt a little better after one bag of fluids. Came home and the kids made supper. I was in bed by 8:30, slept til 6am. Woke up refreshed with a good amount of energy. Took all my morning meds and got in the shower so I could go to the chiropractor. I had dyed my hair that morning so I was in the shower for awhile and started to feel nauseous and extremely weak. I felt like I was going to fall and was struggling to get all the dye out of my hair. My sick daughter came in there to help me. I get out, get dressed and head to my chiropractor appointment with very little energy. I couldn't even speak due to my lack of energy. The chiropractor asked mr what all o had taken that day because my color didn't look good at all. I gave her the list and she says "Michelle??? Your surgeon didn't tell you not to take Lasix after surgery???" I said "No he didn't. I only take it for a few days after my steroids so that I can get the skin pain (Fibro) over with quickly. This is my first relapse in a little over a year.. why can't I take Lasix after surgery?" Her response was "Because it dehydrates you! A person who hasn't had weight loss surgery should drink half their body weight in ounces. If you weigh 300 lbs, you should get 150 ounces of fluids a day. When you have had weight loss surgery, you're told to stick with around 64 because of the size of your stomach. Your body is already lacking electrolytes and taking Lasix is just helping you pass the rest of what you have stored. It is why you are feeling the way you." Me 😯🤔🙄 I seriously felt like the biggest idiot in the world! I am still extremely tired today but not as weak as yesterday. Soooooo... if you take Lasix, DON'T! I wish I had known that!!
