Finally Made my First Appointment

I finally got up the nerve and went to an information session at Lawrence General (Lawrence, Massachusetts). I have my initial appointment with the medical staff on the 23rd. Curious if anyone had the sleeve surgery with this particular hospital. I'm already myself worked up (I suffer from generalized anxiety disorder). Thanks.

Hi, Bob, I’m currently scheduled for 2/5/19 surgery with Dr Shikora (Director of Bariatric Surgery) of Brigham and Women’s in Boston. I’m psyched to have the procedure done but also a bit nervous about how my body will react to the surgery (pain level, how long it will take to get feeling well post-op, etc). While not familiar with Lawrence General, I’m sure you would be in good hands there. The very first step is the informational meeting that it sounds like you’ll be attending soon. Congrats on taking that big first step - give yourself a pat on the back, listen, learn all you can about this procedure and decide if it’s the right choice for you. Good luck! There is a lot of great support and advice available here so please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
You are the only person who can decide if this is the right thing for you to do. Research as much as you can, ask lots of questions of your medical staff and weigh (pardon the pun) up the pros and cons.
Personally there have only be pro's for me. Being sleeved was the single best decision I have ever made and my life has been transformed in so many ways.

Trust me, you will never regret your decision to have the sleeve. It is the best gift you can give yourself!

Just a side note, my doctor does not take people off their anxiety meds after surgery. He says if you need them, keep taking them.

Bob you'll be GAD and SDD and stayed on the meds (have had a minor adjustment) and am SO much betterr!

Welcome Bob. I have not used that center but getting the sleeve has been the best thing I have ever done for myself.
