    Default Hello everyone!

Hello I am new to this community and had my sleeve on December 26th, my doctor started me on puréed foods but I cannot stand to put meats in a blender, what are other good options to bypass this gross process? Thanks for your help in advance!

That stage isn't fun but it's better than just being on liquids. The best part is it doesn't last long and you can slowly move on to more normal food. I found taco meat to be pretty good during that stage, but I agree putting meat in a blender is just not right. Hope all is well, good luck!!

I bought one of those bullet blenders and didn't really use it. I also tried baby food - HUGE mistake. I would stick to naturally soft foods like greek yogurt, re-fried beans, etc. Soft boiled eggs worked for me. Or soups. You will still (probably) be getting most of your protein from shakes.

I agree, putting a meal in a blender is disgusting to me. Save that for the nursing home.

I ate homemade hummus, ricotta bake, refried beans. I did use a little ramekin to make a layer of beans, mashed avocado, some shredded cheese and a bit of sour cream....if you like spice you can add a bit of hot sauce or salsa (just make sure its not chunky). sraebaer is right though, in puree stage most of your protein likely comes from shakes. Do you like bone broth? That is rich in protein, problem is it can be a little boring also. I did add some flavor to mine by shaking a bit of soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger, hot sauce or worchestshire sauce into mine to bump up the taste. Be careful though with spices, for some it can irritate the tummy.

Hi There. From someone who just now got out of the puree phase, I feel your pain! I got so sick of my protein shakes. Let me tell you what my lifesaver was.

Protein Smoothies. I literally got unflavored protein powder, choc sugar free pudding mix, pb powder, and a protein milk (I use Silk branded Nutmilk - cashew and almond mix - 10G of protein per 8 ounces and only 2G sugar) with a little ice. Blended it up and viola. 260 calories and a whopping 46G of protein. And it was delicious to boot. Pinterest has a ton of recipes like this. I made snickerdoodle flavor, butterfinger flavor, etc. I did it because I could not stand the aftertaste of protein shakes any more. I use Genepro powder.

I am not kidding when I say it completely changed my experience with the puree phase. I also liked the campbells sipping soups. They have some yummy flavors, although I used those sparingly because sugar count and calorie count was kind of high. My favorite was roasted corn and poblano.

Greek yogurt (light and fit for the win!), oatmeal (watery) and grits gave me some breakfast variety.

The key for me was variety. When I was on pure liquids, I loathed my protein shakes every day. I was only getting 35-40 a day because I couldn't have anything else and it took a mental toll on me. With puree, the options are there, if you get creative.

But honestly, I looked at it like this: Whatever I have to do, to get 70G a protein and 64 oz of liquid a day, can't be wrong. There is no way that I can overeat right now, I am physically prohibited. Anything I could do to make puree a little easier, I did.

Good luck! I was in this phase for nearly 4 weeks so I feel your pain. It goes fast and you will feel so great when you finally get to chew again!

That is some super advice! I prefer Genepro myself. The flavored stuff is hard to handle post surgery.

I did like MsLisa did. Ricotta bake, refried beans and bone broth. I'm not a fan of the bone broth so I bought low sodium and added chicken bouillon to it along with some Isopure unflavored protein powder. I didn't discover Genepro until a couple weeks later. I won't buy anything else now.

Welcome Jami. I am sure you are on solids by now but tuna or canned meats like chicken are usually soft enough. Also eggs.
