    Default The stall is over!!

Small victory today, after 14 long days of no progress, I weighed in this morning another 3 pounds down. Three pounds has never felt so gratifying. Its funny, I lost 30 pounds on full liquids, nothing on Purees, and then yesterday, I decided to just try to eat some other foods. I got it down easily, didn't have any digestion issues, and consumed 876 calories which is a record high for me since surgery. Then boom weight loss.

To the veterans, do you think my body was reacting to having too little nutrition for so long? I was averaging 500-700 a day and never really felt hungry but I did feel tired alot. I feel better today and have more energy.

I did move into the next phase (soft foods) before my doctor cleared me. But I felt like I could handle it, and I can. Hopefully he doesn't chastise me too much, but I should have seen him friday for clearance but he didn't have anything available until Jan 16. So that was the day he was going to clear me. And 4 weeks of puree was too much. I was ready and I moved myself along. Anyone else trust your body over your doctor? I just want to make sure I am not doing myself a disservice.

I was on liquids (protein drinks) the first two weeks, soft foods for week three, and started adding real foods at week 4. Cleared for all foods at week 6. I know all doctors are different. Didn't he/she give you everything in writing? Here's what I went by. Good luck and congrats on the loss! Could be you weren't eating enough.

Yes too little nutrition especially protein will stall you. Your body goes into starvation mode and starts shutting stuff off to conserve energy(hence being tired). With high protein it converts fat to burn that in the absence of outside sugars and carbs.

Stalls/plateaus are needed by the body. Weight loss is much more complicated than just calories in and out. Or low carbs. Bariatric surgery is a marathon, not a sprint!

We all have different rhythms, the most important is to stay hydrated because not enough water can make you dizzy and also slow weight loss.

I was longer on soft food (my choice) my doctor cleared me for "everything" at on month, but I didn't really feel like it so I was told to just do what I felt was right for me...the most important is to be safe, eat slowly, measure what you eat, you will be fine.

    Take care

Whenever I stalled it was almost always because I was eating too little. When I would up my calories (in a healthy way) I would start losing again. Glad your stall is over.
