    Default New Year's Resolutions?

So what are yours? Those of you just starting out can look forward to 2019 being the best year ever! It is so much fun watching the pounds fall off, shopping for new clothes, getting compliments, etc. Enjoy!

My goal is to reach 130 by August when we attempt to climb Kilimanjaro. I think my goal of 140 is a little high. Not to mention I'm a little above 140 with my birthday and company for most of December. But I'm good at getting back on track. I know what I need to do and will do it.

My second goal is to hit the gym at least twice a week for weight training. I am not a gym person, but I know I need it. Hopefully I'll start to like it and maybe increase the goal from twice to more often. I SO love the outdoors, even on a day like today when it's about 20 degrees. Not sure why I hate the gym, except that it is not outdoors.

My goal is to keep pushing hard to lose the last 40 lbs in 2019. I've been warned that the second "half" of the estimated weight loss is harder...that first half came off in about 3.5 months after sleeving, but I've really got to put in the work for the second half. Here goes nothing!

My goal is to start Tai Chi again.
I have done that many years ago and I would love to be able to learn it all over again.
Being on the road full time does not make it easy, I can't take classes, but I will figure it out.
English is not my first language, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

My goal is to go to the gym at least 3 days a week. I took most of December off because of sickness, work, and the Holidays. It's not a resolution, but I have a goal to be able to buy cowboy boots during a trip to Nashville this spring. I've always had to get wide calf or short boots. And I really want to get into some pretty ones!

I knew it was going to be you Sraebaer when I was reading your message. I’m so jealous your going to attempt To climb Kilimanjaro! So excited for you. I feel the same way about the outdoors and the gym. I much rather be outdoors pounding the dirt to a mountain top or rock climbing but I also need to get into the gym to do some weight training. Some of my goals this year is to recover from these devasting complications I had from my November surgery. Praise God my stroke symptoms are returning to normal. Only have some deficit in my left hand and wrist. Getting little improvements every week know. Another goal is to get back into top physical shape and get left hand back to normal so I can return to climbing mountains.
Wish you all the best in reaching your goals. I will be cheering you on in August!!

My goal is simple really...to keep living my healthiest life possible. To make sure I do not fall off my new lifestyle and not create any bad habits. And also for me a big thing is making sure I weigh myself daily. It is a direct measure of how I am doing. I know some fluctuation is normal so I do not stress. It is about keeping me accountable. I have no "official" resolutions.

    Kilimanjaro!!!
Oh wow!!! really impressive!! best of luck with all your goals, but please please post your photos in August!!! it will all make us happy to see you reach your goal!!!

I'm with you with the gym, can't stand most of those so called "health centers" when they only try to make money and don't really care about you...but I did find an exception a few years back, was a gym in NZ called Les Mills, I LOVED them!!!! I know they now have expended world wide...

Well, I don't really do New Year resolutions, because I try to keep my goals in line all year, my main issue being that I do too many things at the same time and between work, the kids, my studies, I sometimes lose focus and put things on the back burner. And it stays there...for a long time!

In 2019 I hope to get a new job overseas...but first before the departure, my health back and it will require at least two surgeries, will see how it goes...one thing at a time...

My goals are pretty simple -- the first is to be consistently kinder. Although I'm pretty kind to start with

My second is Planet Fitness 3x a week -- we have at week at the Grand Canyon this year, and a 27 day road trip -- I surely want to be able to enjoy it!
And to continue to keep my weight where I want it, with good habits.

However, this year every thing seems possible, thanks to the tool of the sleeve.

My overall 2019 intention is to become more mindful throughout my daily life, i.e., to notice more about THIS moment, to react and behave less based on old habits, and to BE HERE NOW. I'll continue my meditation practice, practice good sleep hygiene, and "listen louder."

At 4.5 years post-op, my intention about weight maintenance is to continue do those things that helped me lose 100+ pounds and maintain that loss (this morning I weighed 133.8), e.g., weigh daily, plan and track what I eat, buy and eat nutritious food, move daily (walking, yoga, weights), take my meds and supplements, keep my medical appointments, and drink lots of water. That last one (drink lots of water) is something I've been improving lately, but want to increase even more.

Other 2019 intentions/plans include some wonderful pleasure and adventure trips, spending more time with people I love, learning French, and writing. I also will complete some important decluttering and purging projects, e.g., closets, files, attic, garage, shop.

Best wishes to everyone on this board who's setting 2019 goals, resolutions, intentions, etc. to make our lives more rewarding, joyful, healthy, loving. The older I get, the more I appreciate that every day is "the show," not a rehearsal. it doesn't matter what we did yesterday, positive or negative. Every day is a chance for us to begin anew.

For those of you only now considering this "last chance" to get healthy, please consider putting yourself and your needs at the top of your 2019 resolutions/intentions. Putting yourself first doesn't mean you cannot love others or attend to their needs. It means it's now time for you to love and care for yourself.

Here's to a happy, healthy 2019 for us all!

    Default Re: New Year's Resolutions?

Iíbe never been one to make a resolution and actually keep it. I plan on changing that this year.

For starters, I am going to join a gym. It has to be somewhere where I can drive to since, believe it or not in my area of New York City, there arenít any easily accessible gyms. I know if Iíll be able to park, Iíll actually go. I think my best bet is Blink. Not terribly expensive and there is parking. Havenít joined yet since Iíve been waiting to get back into physical therapy for the car accident I was in May of 2017 and get an all clear from them.
I also plan to walk more in my neighborhood once the weather clears up toward the spring. I love about 10 blocks from a really nice park and I think i will enjoy it more than a treadmill.

Secondly, I want to be kinder to myself. Iíve been working on it. Iím my own worst critic and the strive to achieve perfection in everything else but losing focus on my health is something I wonít do anymore. (Itís all attributed to my high functioning anxiety and slight OCD.)

Thirdly, I plan on not allowing myself to forgive everyone as easily as I have in the past. I need to be more critical of who I deal with willingly. Work people you canít avoid; however, those who I have relationships with need to be carefully picked. I canít afford to get put in the wrong direction because of someone else, or my own bad decisions based on what someone else does or doesnít do.

This relates to my final goal for myself. Open my heart a little. Iíve gotten burned in the past. Not as badly as some, but I need to be willing to take the risk at some point. Iíve been single since I could have been dating. Which is longer than most people. Iím not upset by it. Everything happens in its due course. And I feel like my course is finally set on that path. It helps that I have feelings for someone, but I also donít want to let that cloud my judgement. The heart wants who it wants, and that isnít always the right person. Hereís to hoping my heart finally got it right.

It's yoga for me. I have been trying to find a yoga class nearby that will take me - they are all fully booked.
Hopefully one becomes available soon. I like the idea of centering myself and gaining some strength back.
Life is good so anything additional that comes along is going to be a bonus :-)
