I am so sorry for you that you have scleroderma (I am sure that you have researched this via Dr Google). This is a complicating factor, as I am sure that you are aware. So what you are dealing with is "out of the ordinary".
What I can advise, topically, from having attended numerous health professionals updates in the past on sessions dealing with infants/toddlers with severe excema, is to only use pH neutral skin cleansing products (which have the least disturbance to the "acid mantle" layer/protection to the skin - Dr Google), followed up by moisturising with pH neutral products. Then applying your prescribed steroid cream. Apparently, the steroid cream is better absorbed from moisturised skin rather than dry.
I hope that you find this useful, and I hope that you find relief from your extremely dry (itchy?) skin.
All the best,
me.
