Rock-n-Roll Baby!!

Completed my second and final half marathon. I only completed it because I had already signed up last year and paid for it. Truthfully though, I will not be running anything longer than a 10k anymore. My knees just start to revolt after about 8 miles. I am glad that I pushed through and still did it. I am a little sad that it is the last one but my health is a priority. I can still run but not as long. I had a great time doing it with my wonderful hubby. I am so lucky to have such a supportive partner that has embraced this journey to healthy right by my side. He is my rock and the love of my life.

Knees, aren't they are a pain?! I too used to love running and had to stop after the doctor said they were starting to get close to bone-on-bone. Probably doesn't help that I tore both ACLs years ago (not at the same time).

Nope. We were both active when we were young. I was still active when fat just ate wayyyyy too much. Hubby was not active at all. He was overweight but not obese. He lost about 40 lbs since my journey started. He didn't really join in until about 9 months after my surgery. My daughter likes to say he did not want to be the fat one. He was always loving and supportive when I was fat. He always says he did not see me as fat. Now when we get those social media reminders of old posts we like to laugh at how big we were. He always says, "I don't remember you being that big." Ah love, it has blinders.

You will be amazed at how you will look and feel down the road. The sleeve is totally amazing if you do the work and follow the plan. You have to keep it up. Monitor your weight and do not let old bad habits creep in.

I think at this point my condition is degenerative. I think when I was fat all the extra knee fat was providing some cushioning. At any rate, I am still able to do stuff....just not long distances. So I focus on short runs and my love for strength training. Keeps me fit.

Thanks Annie. We feel pretty dang amazing. Life is so much better as a sleeved person. I still love to weight lift. I get people all the time who comment on my muscle tone and that always has me over the moon beaming with pride!
