A new job

I just started a new position at my school, and will be working full time as a special education teacher in a high school instead of subbing. It's been 10 long years to this point. I'll be team teaching with 5 different teachers in 4 different subjects. Lots to do, lots of stress, but a great administration, great coworkers, and amazing students.

That was my job until retirement, only in middle school rather than high school. I LOVE the co-teaching, did that a lot while subbing in High School before landing my "real" job. Now that I'm back in gen ed with my subbing, I really think the special ed teachers have the easier job. We may have more paperwork, but we have less children to deal with, less grading, etc. We also get to form really great, personal relationships with the kiddos. Good luck to you - you're going to love it!
