    Default Hello

    Hi all,

I am seriously considering this surgery. I have battled with weight all my life and I'm tired of the same struggle. I feel I'm just existing and not living. With my job I get to travel a lot however, that is a challenge because of my weight. I always need a seat belt extender, I have to take many sitting breaks, I cannot keep up with the others, one time in Hawaii I had to pay for 2 seats to do a helicopter ride etc. I've dieted and lost weight only to gain it back. I'm disgusted with the way I look and this is my last resort to take charge of this issue.

I've read your successes and that gives me hope. A couple of friends had this surgery done last year and have had great success as well.

Looking forward to a brighter future

    Welcome.
Only you can decide if this surgery is right for you...but most of us have been where you are now.
Speaking for myself this surgery has given me a tool to take control of my life and to become healthier and happier person.
I am 14 months out and half the physical person that I was (down 60kg). I have more energy, am healthier, happier and loving my new life.
Flying is now a breeze. No holding my breath to see if the seat belt fits, no oozing over into the next seat, no not being able to put the tray table down because there is no room.
It really is life changing. I wish I had been able to have the surgery years ago.
    Best of luck to you.

I take multivitamins every day and will do for the rest of my life. I was told this prior to surgery. All my bloods since my surgery have been perfect as a result of this.

Best decision I ever made. An example today is that it is 40 degrees in Australia and I haven't even raised a glow. When I was bigger I would have been soaking wet with sweat all day because of the heat and humidity. Life is so much easier. I also take vitamins every day and have adjusted really well to my sleeve, I have had it for a year and lost all my weight in 7 months. Best of luck to you

That is amazing! I want all that too. I am very nervous but I can't imagine staying this way forever...if there is a tool out there to help me I have to do it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Yes, I sweat profusely and it is so embarrassing! The other day I was with a friend and she kindly said if you lost weight you would probably not have that problem. I know she is probably right. There are so many ups to doing this...so many possibilities I mean the thought of the outcome gives me hope. I have to do this and hope for the best. I will put in the work and look for support through friends who have had it done and groups like this. Thank you for sharing your experience.

By the way, my BEST trip in fact I call it the trip of my life was to New Zealand! Oh my word what a beautiful country with epic scenery and warm inviting people. Hobbiton was one of the highlights for me...I don't think I've ever smiled so wide well maybe equally when we were advised on the flight from LA to Auckland that we had been upgraded to Premium Economy! I thought thank God I will have a comfortable ride. Coming home though we were not so lucky and I felt tight. I had a pen pal from NZ I met in Italy years ago and we wrote to each other for about 8 years until she died. She died before I got the chance to visit her country...I hope to go back someday when I'm thinner and healthier. Every time I think of my time there (we visited both the North and South Island) I can't help but smile...it's an instant happy anchor for me.

Speaking of airplanes, one of my best compliments was when I had to sit in a middle seat and the lady by the window said, "I was hoping a tiny person would take this seat!"

Before the sleeve she would have dreaded sitting by me.

    Just do it!

That is wonderful! I would dread sitting in a middle seat and feel bad for the ones next to me. I am in the process of scheduling the VSG. I just received the letter saying I have been approved and have to be on a post op diet for 35 days....I am cruising in January so am looking to schedule 2/25/19.

Yes!! You can love your life again and stop just existing. We have all been there. Hated what we saw and felt so defeated. But you can lose weight and be successful long term with the sleeve. The biggest key is once you hit goal to make sure you have a plan to make sure you spring into action at the first sign of regain. Regain comes from poor eating choices, overeating, and not exercising. Hope you get your sleeve so you can live your best life.
