    Red face Day 7 Post-op

I am at day 7 post-op! Whoooooo! I am still a bit sore but not in a huge amount of discomfort. I am concerned about the large incision because it is still draining but I am told that is normal and it takes the longest to mend. I enjoyed the experience through Dr. Almanza. He has impeccable bed size manner and his staff were accommodating and attentive. The flight back home was hard on me needless to say yet I made it. I met a woman on the flight who was in Mexico having the sleeve procedure at a different medical facility. It was nice to connect with her. We have been keeping in touch daily. I also met many other people at hospital who had the surgery a day or two before me which made me feel more confident because they were walking around upright. They did not demonstrate discomfort and they bragged about Dr. Almanza. I made the right decision.
Right now my battle in fluid intake... I am struggling to get the adequate amount of fluids into my body. However, I can tell when I am getting dehydrated because my tummy gets spasms and when I consume too much I feel bloated. I am listening to my body and following the nutritional layout to the letter (or at least I try) I stick with the allowable foods I just don't get enough of them inside of me. I'll keep working at it.

    Hi There.
You are right to keep trying to keep hydrated. This is really important. Just little sips - but constantly in beginning. You will be able to take more in as the days progress. If you take it easy, concentrate on your eating/drinking plan and walk as much as you feel able to you will be just fine.
Keep up the good work. It really does get much easier.

Keep up the good work, I am 5 months post op now, have lost 49 lbs so far. Dr. Almanza was also my surgeon. Really keep up on popsicles and sipping water. I ended up so dehydrated I had to get a liter of fluids and still didn't pee for hours. I felt so much better after I got it. Every day will get easier and easier. Just take it one day at a time.

Yup. Your main focus right now is to stay hydrated. Then worry about proteins. It will get easier each day. Just keep sipping. Small sips but frequently.

    Hi

    All of the above applies!

Don't worry about anything other than staying hydrated by taking tiny regular sips.

I know for me it was a pressure inside your body that made you feel it was not possible to break through with sipping the water, but each day is better and better and tiny sips is the way forward but lots and lots of them!

Your body is trying to heal and thats your tummy needing to cope with getting fluids and your body needs hydration.

I lost a lot of weight since March I have 2 more kgs to lose and I thenI am at a goal weight of 60 KG that my surgeon predicted I would be in a period of 12 months,
I have lost 32 kg (70 lbs) I drink water all the time even when I wake up in the middle of the night, the times I don't drink enough are the times that seem to stall the weight loss down.

Great work by the way and so pleased for you!

In the beginning you think it is always going to be like this but... its Not!

Its just the healing of the surgery which is ENTIRELY different to life say 2 months fast forward of surgery.

So do your sips and naps and walkabout and then you will see!
