Default 5 Months Post Surgery - 45 pounds down.... But Severe stomach pain

    Hello Group,

I am so happy to have done so well. Feels so good to get in smaller clothes. Bloodwork done and all is better there.

But for the last 2 weeks or so I wake up with severe stomach pain. I get up and take 2 Tablespoons of Mylanta and about an hour later the pain is gone. It really is severe. the fact that Mylanta helps makes me think gas, but it does not feel like gas. Just extreme pain.

Have any body had this before, I appreciate your input.

Another issue - skin hanging down on my arms - Is there any fix for that other than surgery?

Have a Great Day and Thank You

I'm sorry you are having pain; the only time I've had anything like that, I ate 4 (yes 4) potato chips and OMG it was awful. I would ask your PC just to be sure nothing is going on that shouldn't be.

As to the arms, I know small weights help, and time shrinks it up some. But if we knew a way that worked like plastic surgery we could sell it and retire@

Check with your surgeon just to be SURE you aren't dealing with an ulcer. Probably not. But it doesn't hurt to ask.

BTW, Gas-X (in its various forms -- I like the strips) is a GREAT and nearly immediate tummy gas eliminator.

Congrats on all your success thus far.

Re the arms ... give 'em time. You won't know for a year or two what they're really going to look like. Weights really do help. So does aquarobics with BIG styrofoam "weights' -- which are really just water-resistors, so same thing as real weights. And yoga ... I cannot say enough good things about yoga. I've been doing yoga now for 3 years, and it has changed my body in so many good ways.

    Best to you.

Congrats on your weight loss! Wow! As far as the pain, I would call your doctor today just to be on the safe side. Might be something like acid reflux that can be helped with medication.

With arms just exercise to tone, there isn't much more you can do about that. Plastic surgery can fix it but you will have a permanent "seam" down your arm. That looked less attractive to me than a little extra skin.

    Thanks Ann,

I will try the Gas X. I have been using the Pepcid but concerned about using them too much. Yoga, here I come.

The important things to help with skin are good nutrition, vitamins, hydration, exercise (toning such as weight lifting), and time. Also, genetics plays a part in it. I agree that a little loose skin is better than the long scar down the arm. I feel the same about my thigh skin. I don't think the pain or scars of skin removal is worth it. I will take my little sag and deal with it.
