hi everyone
5 years out and getting back on track
would anybody have any meal suggestions and recipes that keep you on track. or post what you have on a regular day
thank you and very much appreciated
Hi there. I guess the main thing is to go back to basics and concentrate on good protein, then veggies then a little good carb if room. And to remember to stay hydrated.
I'm nearly 15 months out and my day looks like this:
Breakfast - protein shake made with 200ml low fat calcium enriched milk with 1 scoop protein
or 1/4 cup raw rolled oats soaked overnight in 100ml milk - add 1/2 scoop protein in the morning and a little fruit of some kind
- canned or fresh.
Sometimes I eat them as they are sometimes I heat them in the microwave to make porridge.
or 1 x poached egg and 1 slice wholegrain toast - usually a weekend treat.
Multivitamins x 2 (can't take them on an empty stomach.
Snack - Mini babybel cheese - light, 1/2 carrot, 1 medium stick of celery
Lunch - 125g cottage cheese, 3 x light "cruskit" crackers, 1 x tomato, 4 thick slices cucumber
or 100g chicken and 1/2 cup mixed salad
Snack - 1/2 orange
Dinner - 100g fish or chicken, small amount of green veg - and it is usually really small - less than 1/4 cup sometimes nothing at all.
If I am having red meat it is usually around 60g - I can't eat any more than that.
No potato, pasta, bread etc
Snack - 1/2 cup watermelon or 4-5 strawberries or whatever fruit is in season.
I drink around 1 1/2 litres of water and day and have 1 - 2 cups of tea.
I'm a creature of habit and tend to have the same things most days. That wouldn't suit most people but it does suit me.
If you are looking for some recipes the website worldaccordingtoeggface has some really good ones. When I am looking for something different this is my go to place.
Good luck with getting back on track. I'm sure you will do just fine :-)
I'm pretty boring, it's typically 2 eggs for breakfast unless we get creative with a quiche or something.
Lunch is typically dinner leftovers.
Dinner is our self-imposed "rule of two," a protein and veggie. There the options are endless. Hubby is the chef, and always comes up with something delicious. Last night it was chicken stuffed with spinach and some kind of cheese, along with broccoli in the cast iron skillet. We eat more fish than meat.
Snacks are nuts, low fat string cheese, greek yogurt, fruit, veggies, hummus, whatever. I try to stay away from all junk food. I say try because I'm not perfect!
Good luck! I'm 5 years out too and still have to weigh myself daily. I think I could gain by just looking at food. And even after 5 years I'm still learning. Yesterday we had a 12 hour road trip and for breakfast we stopped at Starbucks and I had the oatmeal and a coffee. Now I almost never drink with meals. After the oatmeal there was absolutely no room for that expensive latte. Sometimes I just never learn my lesson!
