After surgery I believe you can only swallow small amounts of water. I have to take a couple of large pills morning and night. Anyone else had this problem.
My surgeon had me crushing my regular meds post op and prescribed liquid pain meds. I had to check with my PCP/Pharmacist if my regular meds could be crushed or the capsules opened. I did the research on that before my surgery date. After 2 weeks I was cleared to go back to taking meds whole, and have not had any issues taking them with sips of water.

I'm told I have to go to a class to go over ally meds and they will teach me how to take them and prescribe different ones that are not extended release. DOD they not go over it with you? Good luck!
I would take this question to the doctor who prescribed your medication.
Maybe a different medicine can be taken.
Crushing is okay, you can take the crushed pills with some yoghurt or some liquid.
I think opening capsules is a bad idea, those meds are in there for a reason.
Ask your surgeon or nutritionist. Like someone else said, there may be an alternative medication. You won't be able to swallow a huge pill in the beginning. I know some pills can't be crushed, so get your answers before surgery.
Good luck!
