Exclamation 6 days out, feeling soooo tired

Hi! I just had surgery 6 days ago and I feel really low energy and shaky. I’m finding it hard to stay hydrated. I can tolerate about 1/2 cup of broth 2 x a day and I try sipping water or flavored water throughout day. Any other ideas on protein that’s easy to digest to get my energy up?

More hydration and nutrition will do the trick. I mix up a special drink for all my water intake...it goes down well for me.
    -64oz water
    -2 packages of pedialyte
-4 scoops of flavorless Genepro protein powder
-2 squirts of Mio water flavoring to taste
-Any liquid vitamins you might have.

However you do it....the hydration and nutrients are a must to feeling your best.

    Cheers!

First of all, being tired is normal. You just had surgery. But you HAVE to meet your protein and liquid goals, or you'll never get your energy back and could end up back in the hospital with dehydration.

Find a protein drink you like, I liked Isopure orange flavor diluted with a lot of ice. Sip every waking moment. It will count toward liquid and protein. Keep a journal to be sure you are reaching your daily goals. Just do it! Good luck.

Hang in there. It will get better. The first week is the WORST!! It will slowly get a little easier each day. For energy try sublingual or dissolvable B12. You can find them pretty easily. I got mine off Amazon or at Walmart. Also, as stated previously the better hydrated you are you will feel better. For me in the beginning I did better with room temperature or warm fluids. Hot tea. I would (and still do) make a large latte with espresso, fairlife nonfat milk (it is higher in protein), and Splenda. It helped me get more protein and the warm settled better. Especially since in the beginning I did not like the sweetness of the shakes even though I liked them preop. My tastes buds were out of whack for a bit.

Hang in there! Low energy is totally normal in the beginning. It will improve. It’s so important to stay hydrated. Requires you sip frequently and always have a bottle of fluids with you. I just discovered a new protein drink that’s not milk based . Texture like juice. It’s called Boost Breeze. I really like the triple berry flavor. I’m getting it in the hospital. When I get my next one I’ll take a pick and post on your post. It’s easy to sip. I just had my sleeve revised to a bypass do to acid reflux and a hiatal hernia. Good luck to you. Your in for an amazing ride. You should feel good in the next couple weeks.

The protein drink that’s like drinking a juice. Is called Boost Breeze by NestleHealth Science. Wasn’t able to post a pic but at least you know who makes it.

Naps were critical in the first week. I think I was even taking a quick morning nap and then a longer afternoon nap. Also, I was drinking Vitamin Water Zero to help get in more vitamins.
