Hi

Just joined today, considering a gastric sleeve and trying to weigh up the pros and cons. There is a history of stomach ancer in my family and after speaking to my mum about this, she has pointed out that if I have 90% less stomach, there would be 90% less to save. Has anyone at all had any experience of this. My mum also had stomach ulcers that burst so various stomach issues in the family. Thanks in advance for responses x

I have not experienced these things, but I would definitely discuss with a surgeon and a gastroenterologist.

Thanks for the responses. I’m meeting with the surgeon again this week and conducting my own research. It is actually possible to live a normal life without a stomach I’ve found. But will keep researching x

Nothing with stomach cancers but I did have an ulcer that was cut away when my sleeve was created. I also had h pylori bacteria and a hiatal hernia that was discovered with the endoscopy. None have been issues since the surgery.
