    Unhappy Update

    Hey All,

I have not been around a lot as I have been super sick. I missed a week of work and should have missed more, but my supervisor was in town. I'm still not doing well and this all started a day after my one month check up. I was in Acute Care a few days later and also a trip to my primary care doc and still battling whatever it is and a cold on top of it. I just thought it was a UTI and that came back negative.

I am having trouble eating anything which is not helping with weight loss. I'm down 23 pounds. I am very weak. They are looking at doing a Cat Scan as I have been having issues on my left side. Thrown up a few times and diarrhea - makes me scared to eat. I try to get a few bites in and keeping up on my fluids. Right now it is a mystery on what is wrong and hopefully the CT gives some answers so I can get back on track.

    Hope everyone is well.

Bummer, hope you feel better soon. There is so much going around right now it could possibly have nothing to do with your sleeve. I've had 2 grandkids miss a whole week of school, and I've been sick for over 3 weeks. (Finally going to the doctor tomorrow, but I think it's just a really bad cold combined with travel germs, I don't think my tummy liked the water or food in Sicily).

Can you keep protein shakes down? We need to keep you hydrated, that's probably the most important thing at the moment. And the protein will get you some energy back. Good luck!

Kristi, PLEASE let us know what's going on with you, once you find out.

Could be the early flu season and other godawful random germs and viruses floating around right now. Could be a slow leak from your surgery. Could be something completely unrelated to anything you've thought of.

I'm a big fan of aiming twice before shooting first. So get the MRI and whatever other tests they're offering.

Again, please let us know what you find out.

I will definitely let you all know when I find out. Sick of this. I hope it’s something as simple as a bad cold or flu.

Emailed my PCP today and he wants to wait for the CT before doing anymore tests. I haven't heard from the surgeon's office today. They may or may not be in today. Not knowing and not improving is the worst.

Officially down 25 pounds as of today. I don't know if I broke my stall or if it's from being sick. I'll take it though. I make sure I eat at least twice a day. 3 would be pushing it. It's an improvement over a few weeks ago.

CT results are in and it is not good news. Bilateral Pleural Effusion which fluid on both lungs. Never showed up on chest xray, but explains the dry cough. I can't cough up the bad junk. I don't know if it's too thick or what. Not sure what the difference is between that and pneumonia is. They will drain in Monday morning. Won't be sedated and they will stick two chest tubes in me. I've had a lung collapse when I was 14 so I am scared. It was painful. You do feel better, but Novocaine is not enough to slice you open.

This could be surgery related however, they say it happens right after surgery, not a month post op so they mystery continues. The left side is worse and explains the pain on that side. Explains my lack of appetite, etc. And really explains my breathing issues.

All I can say is if your body feels off please go to the doctor. I went right away and had a normal chest xray, normal labs, and urine, and no answers. Saw docs the last three weeks and no answers.

Prayers and good thoughts appreciated Monday.
