Sending prayers your way.
I am sorry to hear that.
Pneumonia is on the inside of the lungs, this is on the outside.
That is why you can't cough anything up.
If you tell them that you are anxious and scared, I am sure they can give you one of those nice pills, to help you relax a bit.
Sending positive vibes your way.
Hang in there, you will feel better once it is done.
Kristi, I'm sending you huge kudos for being a WONDERFUL OMBUDSMAN FOR YOURSELF!
You kept saying, "It's not right ... I need more help! More! Better!"
Very, very proud of you. And you're an excellent role model for me in this regard. Thank you.
Ann

Thanks everyone. Today has been rough with dizziness, pain, and trouble breathing. I know this procedure needs to be done, but it scares me. My friend's sister who is a surgical tech said I might go home with drains. Yuck. She said hi risk for infection. I decided to take the rest of the week off since it's a short week anyway. Looking forward to feeling better - that's for sure.
I hope they give you pain meds through your iv. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
All done. Only had to do one lung. At first I didn't think she was going to do either lung, but after some ultra sound images she decided to go through with it. She was able to get just over 400 cc of fluid off my left lung. My body had absorbed quite a bit of it since Thursday. I am already breathing better. This is a fairly common procedure - they do about 7-8 a day. The pressure was unreal for pain, but it didn't last long. Slight concern for a lung collapse, but that's rare.
The pain tonight is pretty bad. I didn’t get sent home with anything for pain. I tried eating and threw up. I gotta get my tummy back under control. I’m scaring my dad at how little I eat. I don’t want a feeding tube. I’m nauseous all the time and that’s with Zofran. I have diarrhea too. I’m hoping this fluid shows some sort of infection and explains a lot of these mysteries. I had the perfect first month and then it all went down hill. I miss my sassy self. It has been a long time since I have been this sick. Never again I hope.
