One of the hardest parts the last month has been eating. Still getting used to my new tummy and because I was so sick I asked if this caused my nausea for the last month. They said yes. Doesn’t help the food here is terrible. Would not feed it to a stray dog. So bad! Dad has not been shy telling every doc that I don’t eat. My dad brought me food and finally got Thanksgiving dinner tonight. It was fabulous. Only ate a little bit.

The dietician has been up here, but didn’t chew me out. Said I can order from the kitchen if I don’t like the tray food. I don’t enjoy food anymore. Some smells get to me. Almost threw up last night, just foamies but every doc asked me about it today. I’m hoping they said me home on something stronger than Zofran. I won’t eat if I am nauseous. I will ask if they don’t.

Still in the hospital, but should be home. My insurance decided to go with another company and they overnight the antibiotics. In the last year I got IV antibiotics through the hospital I’m staying at. It got going late today so there is no guarantee I’m going home tomorrow. What a waist of money.

I still have a small spot on my right lung so it’s two more weeks of IV antibiotics.

I’m sick of this place. I’m not eating well as the nausea is pretty bad at times. I’m trying to eat when I have a free moment with my stomach. They are sending me home on two nausea meds. Might be time to contact my surgeon on the nausea since it’s not getting better. Nothing showed up on any tests.

I’m very weak.looking forward to get my strength back.

Blood infections are no joke. I never want to be this sick again.

Sorry to hear you have been so sick Kristie. I do hope you are on the mend now. In terms of the antibiotics I would say you certainly need all of them. I am concerned that you are still nauseous... It would be wise to put you onto several different antiemetics to try to knock that on the head. Having a patient still with constant nausea during an admission is really quite unacceptable and very miserable for you. Also I wonder if you need a ferrinject (iron) infusion as your hb is pretty low and possibly one of the reasons you feel so lousy. Make some noise Kristie... it is not acceptable to still be feeling so sick when there could be some ways to make you far more comfortable. Do let us know how you go,..

I’m home, but feel worse. I don’t know if I should go back. I’m having horrible nausea and can barely keep anything down. My parents think I’m getting close to a feeding tube. I do have a home health nurse coming out tomorrow sometime to check on me. I have zero energy. The nausea started when I started getting sick but nothing showed up on the cat scans I had.

I’m just miserable and hate this.

I'm sorry you're not feeling better. If in doubt, I would go back in. Don't play with your health. Maybe since you have low energy and feel sick you should try something with sugar in it? Please take care and let us know how you do!

I saw the home health nurse and she says I’m stable for what I’ve been through. Both nausea meds cause drowsiness sovtgat explains why I’m tired. My hemoglobin being low will make me tired and weak as well. She thinks the nausea is the IV antibiotic. She saw me take it and get nauseous shortly after. Wants me to try and eat more - she don’t care what it is. If I have to take a couple of bites and stop but eat it again later that’s ok. She was very knowledgeable on the sleeve. Vitals were perfect.

She said it could be a couple of months before I’m back to normal. I was close to death so the body needs rest. I’m going to take FMLA and not worry about work with all this going on. It’s me time for a bit. Plus, I’m still very prone to infection. Time for Lysol spray and wipes when people touch my stuff. They believe this all started from a small virus I caught from someone.
