Well as of today it's been one year and what a crazy journey it's been! I started this marathon at 397lbs, I had diabetes, hypothyroidism, and cholesterol issues (they go hand in hand with diabetes as my fellow diabetics can attest) I'm down to 230lbs less than when I was in middle school (grades 6-8 for those outside the United states) which is amazing! I've gone from a size 5x shirt to a 1, and from size 56 pants to a 38 regular and I'm not even done losing yet. I would like to drop another 50lbs and get to 180 which I feel will be a nice healthy weight for my body type and frame. 200 would be fine too but why not shoot got the stars right? I know I have about 15 to 20lbs in lose skin that may or may not be removed at a later time so there's that! I attribute my success to my wonderful support structure and family cheering me on. My wife was even sleeved last week so she just recently joined us losers too! I am so grateful for her and my family and friends pushing and encouraging me through this as it is definitely not easy. When I'm in my head I can count on my wife to pull me back out and re motivate me to get back on track. It hasnt been simple as life is chaotic right now. We have had our third child recently so along with everything else toss in all that goes with child rearing into the mix! Regardless I wouldn't be where I am without those around me and thank you to my wonderful surgeon and her staff for this tool that will let me be here to play with my kids and grandkids in the future!
Don't get discouraged; don't let others set your goals for you; don't give up on yourself or your dreams! Keep those in your lives who are positive influences and want you to be a better you because that is what you want. Cut out those destructive people who want to see you fail! You can do this, you have the tools, you can and will be successful, and don't accept less!
I know without my wife and family here my life would be completely different, I may not have gotten the surgery because I honestly may not have cared that much about being around. {this is an honest internal view) and I thank God every day for those I have in my life, my wife keeps my grounded and my kids keep me active and they all keep me happy (most days) but I wouldnt have it any other way. Attached are some before and after pics!
